Former Kingaroy State High School principal David Ballin, now Assistant Regional Director Darling Downs for the Department of Education, presented the 2015 Student of the Year Award to Meagan Clark, who was also this year’s Dux, at Goomeri State School’s 2015 Awards Night

Goomeri P-10 State School held its annual Awards Night last Thursday, November 19 at the Goomeri Hall of Memory.

School captains, Meagan Clark and Ashley Knight, compered the evening which recognised and celebrated the achievements of students in 2015.

Principal Leon Doorackers acknowledged highlights of the year in his speech.

They included the school’s equestrian team achieving Champion School success at both the South Burnett Cow Horse Competition and South Burnett Equestrian Competition, as well as placing 4th out of 71 schools at the Fraser Coast Interschool Equestrian Competition.

Goomeri State School was also successful in receiving a SSS grant to build a permanent, all weather roof over the current multipurpose court, costing approximately $150,000.

At the end of the evening the 2016 School Captains were announced: Tyler Mills and Myles Clark.

Courtney Litfin and Jacob Litfin will be Vice School Captains.
