Two Cherbourg Hornets junior rugby league players earned spots in the U15s “Possibles” and “Probables” squads during the 2015 Murri Rugby League Carnival played at Redcliffe last week.

Quayden Collins-Cobbo and Tylyn Prior were selected after their performances for the Hornets U15s team at the QAIHC Arthur Beetson Foundation Murri Rugby League Carnival.

Cherbourg entered three teams in the competition: Hornets (Men’s), Hornettes (Women) and an U15s H0rnets team.

The senior team was eliminated after defeats on Friday by Bayside Brothers 42-12 and Brisbane Blacks 18-12.

There were 29 team in the senior men’s competition.

The Cherbourg women’s team got off to a slow start, being defeated 22-0 by Coastal Gummaz on Thursday, and by Tiddas United 10-4 on Friday.

But on Saturday, the women scored a thumping 24-0 victory over the Ipswich Redbacks.

On Saturday afternoon, they came up against Coastal Gummaz again, this time going down 16-0.

Seventeen nominated in the U15s competition.

On Thursday, the young Hornets were defeated 26-0 by the Townsville Walkabout but came back with a roar on Friday, out-stinging the Brisbane Stingers 22-16.

On Saturday, Waa’Wid’jee’Mah Warriors defeated the Hornets 28-4 but Cherbourg came back in the afternoon with a 26-8 victory over the Oakey Redbelly Blacks.

The “Possibles” defeated the “Probables” 32-16.
