Yarraman had a great start to their weekend with their popular annual “Shirts versus Skirts” match.
The men proved too strong for the women and scooped up the trophy by 133 points to 90.
The match was played over two games of 12 ends, and Merv Fitch’s team headed the leader board on thirty-five points.

Ladies bowls was played on Wednesday, with two games of triples over 16 ends.

- John Beattie, Lola Harper and Elle van Balen def. Robyn Diercke, Leo Robinson and Margaret Willoughby 12-9
- Di Currell, Yvonne Schultz and Eunice Smith def. Glenda Wolski, Alison Anderson and Arthur Smith 18-16
Kevin Profke skipped the winning team of Fours in lawn bowls at the Qld State Caravan Rally held in Stanthorpe last week.
The green was running 20 seconds – something to which Yarraman players are not accustomed.

Overcast and stormy conditions have played havoc with the Kingaroy’s Lawn Bowls calendar this week.
Tuesday saw only one game of Triples and a single game of Pairs played.
And weather meant the games were stopped after ends were played.
Results:
- Darcy Munroe, Alex Callender and Kev Raffin def. Peter Neilson, Maree Millard and Allan Irwin 18-10
- Col Kratzmann and Ray MacLaren def. Dave Barwick and Bob Robinson 15-12
On Wednesday, thunder and lightning bought the two games of Triples to an end after 20 ends had been played:
- Marjorie Moore, John Lacey and Val Jeppersen def. Gladys Slatter, Sharon Yeates and Val Crawford 22-16
- Des Richards, Richard Patterson and Beryl Woods def. Norma Rook, Col Kratzmann and Dianne Reed 20-15
The situation continued on Thursday when storms and rain saw all games abandoned after just 8 ends had been bowled
However, twelve teams battled it out in the ever-popular monthly Jackpot Pairs competition.
In overcast conditions with the odd sprinkle. two games of two-bowl pairs were played over 18 ends.
The winners were John Coppard and Des Richards with a margin of +13, while the runners up were Col Kratzman and Marjorie Moore with a margin of +7.
The Jackpot of $130 was not won and carries over to next month.

The Kilcow Bowls Club’s competitions have progressed, with two more results declared recently.
In the Mixed Triples final, Greg Staniforth, Dozer Bechly and Trudi Pratt defeated Lester Bechly, Harold Alford and Kim Donovan to claim the crown.
And in the final of the Ladies B Grade Singles, a closely-fought match that kept the gallery interested until the final bowl, Fay Vicary defeated Nelly Herbert 27-24.
Last Friday’s Seafood Day sponsored by Gina Ryder and Dozer Bechly was a winner for the club.
Players came from clubs as far away as Caloundra.
The winners were the local team of Dozer Bechly, Peter Bell, Kev Miller and Ken Litherland.
Runners Up included two Caloundra players: the team were Neeta and Graham Chant with their friends Keith and Barb from Caloundra.
First round winners were Leigh Irwin, Tony Gray, Kev Preece and Terry Pratten, with Bob Allen’s team taking the second round.
A raffle was run on the day with prizes donated by the club.
All proceeds from this raffle went to the appeal for our drought ravaged farmers.

On Tuesday, in the Star of the Green competition, Gina Ryder defeated Jef Welden. Gina will now play Nelly Herbert next week.
The jackpot was not won and rises to $328 next Tuesday.
And in social play on that day, Jeff Welden, Michael Dunn, Sharon Walker and Ernie Vicary narrowly defeated Adam Kelly, Pauline Lawson, Kelly Charters and Dennis Thomsen.
In the other very close game played, Lester Bechly, Harold Alford, Dave Scott and Val Wells defeated Trudi Pratt, Brett Kelly, Ian Smith and Ernie Herbert 18-16.

In Friday’s Scroungers on September 25, Lew Saunders took out top position with 57. He was followed by Greg Pogson (48) and Josh Fisher (25).
On Saturday in Self Selected Triples, with scoring two for an end and five for a win:

Murgon News
Here’s a reminder: the Murgon Bowls Club in Macalister Street will be holding their Invitation Open Fours Carnival on Saturday, October 17, kicking off at 9:15am.
The competition will take the form of 3 games over 16 ends (or a bell at 2 hours 10 minutes) with scoring wins plus margins and if tied, ends to count, then scores.
Only the first 16 teams nominated will be accepted, and teams can consist of all men, all women or mixed.
Nomination fees are $60 per team – which includes a basket lunch – and there’ll be a $320 first prize and $160 runner up prize, along with an $80 prize to the last round winner.
Trophies are being sponsored by Murgon Tyre and Auto.
