The South Burnett is saying “no” to domestic violence in a big way on Wednesday (October 7).

The South Burnett Regional Council has organised a series of “Safer Families, Better Communities” events across the region.

At each event there will be guest speakers, a minute’s silence to remember the victims of domestic violence, and the release of white balloons.

In Kingaroy, a breakfast will be held in the Town Hall Forecourt from 7:00am, sponsored by SupaIGA. For a gold coin donation, there’ll be bacon and egg muffins available. Coffee will also be able to be purchased, with 50c from every sale donated back to the community.

In Nanango, a barbecue breakfast will available for a gold coin donation outside the IGA Supermarket from 7:30am.

In Wondai, the local QCWA will be providing morning tea for a gold coin donation from 9:00am in the foyer of the Wondai Memorial Hall.  CROW-FM will be broadcasting live fr0m the event.

In Murgon, Graham House will be hosting a DV Rally from 8:00am in Coronation Park. Guest speaker will be men’s support worker Jim Sloane and there will also be a star weaving workshop (part of the One Million Stars To End Violence campaign), sausage sizzle, tea and coffee.

A morning tea will be held in Proston at the Proston Library at 10:30am.

The events are being staged in conjunction with Uniting Care Community, Centacare Community Connections South Burnett, Graham House Community Centre and CROW-FM.
