Two men arrested by detectives from the State Flying Squad in Nanango on Saturday afternoon appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday charged with drug trafficking.

Police will allege that a search of a vehicle located more than $5000 in cash, a quantity of methamphetamine and drug items.

Blane Mark Welling, 18, and Brendon John Jackson, 33, entered no pleas when they appeared charged with trafficking, possessing dangerous drugs, receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking, possessing drug utensils and possessing an item used in the commission of a crime.

Welling was additionally charged with another count of possessing a drug utensil, contravening a police direction, driving on a learner’s permit without “L” plates, and failing to comply with conditions of a Learner’s Permit.

Jackson also faced charges of public nuisance, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing a knife in a public place and three counts of common assault.

Welling was remanded in custody to reappear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 12.

Police Prosecutor Sgt Pepe Gangemi said police would offer no evidence on the unlawful use and assault charges against Jackson.

Jackson was then remanded in custody to reappear on Tuesday (September 29) in Murgon Magistrates Court for a bail application.
