On Thursday, August 20 the region’s seniors clubs gathered to celebrate Senior’s Week.

The annual luncheon was hosted by the Yarraman Over 50’s Club this year, and the day began with the singing of the National Anthem.

This year’s event was generously supported by Bendigo Community Bank, Stanwell Corporation and the South Burnett Regional Council.

Without their support these special events could not take place.

The day began with morning tea followed by some great entertainment from Maclagan accordionists Tom Bennett and Keegan Plumridge, followed by the Taromeo Singers.

Each year the seniors get-together is hosted by one of the seniors clubs in Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango, Kilkivan, Goomeri, Proston or Yarraman.

Next year’s event will be hosted by Proston.

The day was catered for by H.I.K.E. (Hearing Impaired Kids Enterprises) and all profits were donated to them, which will be used for the purchase of heating aids and to support hearing-impaired children.

Students from Yarraman P9 State School served the luncheon and did a very professional job, which was very much appreciated by the guests.

The day ended with afternoon tea and the singing of “Now Is The Hour”.
