A team from the RACQ will be visiting Cherbourg on Friday (September 4) to give local children lessons in how to be safe in and around cars.

RACQ Senior Education Officer Julie Smith said Cherbourg State School would take part in the club’s “Streets Ahead” program, which teaches vital road safety skills to young children, including how to be safe pedestrians when walking to and from school.

The team will also hold two free Community Motoring Workshops at the Cherbourg Hall on Friday for any community members with questions on a wide range of motoring issues, from road rules and car care to how to report hazards.

The RACQ education team has been busy in the South Burnett this week.

On Thursday night they presented their “Kids N Cars” Safety Program to parents in Nanango in a special night organised by the St Patrick’s P&F Association.

This program aims to help parents keep children safe in and around vehicles.
