Gunners were elated to win this year’s 2nd Division Preliminary Final against Nanango

August 30, 2015

Nanango wiped out memories of their surprise loss last weekend with a thumping 11-0 defeat of Wests in the 1st Division Preliminary Final of the Evolution Solar South Burnett Football competition played at Murgon on Saturday night.

Kieran, Elliott and Thomas Mangan scored a total of seven goals between them – although which Mangan scored what could be the subject of family controversy (if Facebook is to be believed!).

Wests were lucky to even make it into the Preliminary Final after controversy earlier in the week over them fielding an incorrect player during the Minor Semi-Final against Barambah. However, Barambah decided not to press the matter.

Nanango will now play Gunners in the Grand Final next Saturday in Kingaroy.

In 2nd Division, the Panthers weren’t so lucky, going down to Gunners 1-0. Gunners will now face Wests in the Grand Final.

In the Women’s competition, Barambah was unlucky to lose against Wests after conceding an own goal. Wests defeated the Bears 3-2 and will now play Nanango in the Grand Final.
