The efforts and dedication of Meals on Wheels volunteers throughout Australia will be celebrated as part of National Meals on Wheels Day on Wednesday (August 26).

“Our many thousands of amazing and inspiring volunteers don’t just prepare and deliver meals,” Australian Meals on Wheels Association president Nelson Mathews said.

“They nourish, strengthen and care for communities by delivering delicious and nutritious ready-to-eat meals, providing important social contact to people.”

In Kingaroy, SBcare will be holding a special celebration for volunteers on September 10.

“At SBcare Meals on Wheels we want to say thank you to all of our Meals on Wheels volunteers and to show our appreciation as well as present certificates of service,” SBcare CEO Cheryl Dalton said.

“SBcare is hosting a morning tea for all volunteers on September 10.

“The inspiring team at SBcare Meals on Wheels help prepare and deliver over 20,000 meals across the South Burnett annually and make up part of the national Meals on Wheels’ 75,000 strong volunteer network.”

“SBcare Meals on Wheels employs eight staff, has 500-plus volunteers across the South Burnett and provides a meals service for 150 people.

“SBcare Meals on Wheels is always looking for new volunteers to contribute just a few hours per week. If you wish to volunteer or know someone who might need Meals on Wheels, please contact Louise on 0741-627-302.”

  1. Mavis Rasmussen has a beautiful and caring spirit and gives her time voluntarily to assisting in the Meals on Wheels kitchen. The world is a better place for people like her. She ‘gives’ because she ‘cares’. Thank you Mavis.
