Here’s the fishing report for Boondooma and Bjelke-Petersen dams for the week ending Monday, August 31:

Boondooma Dam

  • Dam Level = 70 per cent

Wow, what a week! Personally, I have not seen Boondooma fire like this for five years.

Something snapped in the fish this week. Great big Goldens were being caught all week but the Bass have been even bigger with some people catching four and five fish over the 50 mark in one session.

Slow rolled plastics and tail spinners were working the best.

Redclaw are still a bit slow

Bjelke-Petersen Dam (Yallakool)

  • Dam Level = 48 per cent

Once again, a great week for fishing as the Bass are finally beginning to bite more as the weather begins to warm up.

Fish on lures with light colours.

Golden Perch are still the dominant fish in the dam on the bite with yabbies and shrimp as the preferred bait.

The ABT fishing tournament at the dam was a great success thanks to the many Bass caught in the dam.

Red claw are still scarce as the water is still a little too cold for them but with luck and persistence they can be caught.
