Proston’s Uniting Church in Collingwood Street (formerly the Methodist Church) will be holding its final service on August 9.

The church’s minister Rev David Ferguson advised parishioners today the church’s congregation have decided to cease operating.

“This congregation has a long history of witness and service to their community, and have developed many leaders for both the Uniting Church and other denominations,” Rev Ferguson said.

“But now it is not in a position to continue.”

The church’s final service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 9.

The service will be preceded by a light lunch for those travelling long distances to attend, and will be followed by a shared afternoon tea.

All current and past congregation members and those with a connection to the church are very welcome to attend, but to assist with catering an RSVP would be greatly appreciated.

  • RSVPs or messages to be read at the final service can be made by emailing John Leyden
