The Burnett Mary Regional Group will be running a free public workshop in Durong this week to discuss fire management in the southern zone of the Brigalow Belt.

The Brigalow Belt (South) Fire Management Guidelines – which cover hazard reduction burns – will be discussed and an opportunity will be provided for participants to provide input and further refinement to them.

The presentation will be provided by Andrew Houley, from Fire and Landscape Management.

Andrew has a long association with fire in the landscape, from planning the pro-active use of fire across many parts of Queensland to bushfire suppression in a range of roles.

He specialises in developing strategies, tools and plans that guide the use of fire in a particular landscape for the purposes of hazard reduction, primary production and conservation.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, May 28, from 6:00pm at the Durong Bowls Club.

Attendees have been asked to RSVP by Tuesday to Vikki Evans at the BMRG Wondai Office on (07) 4169-0720 or by email
