Andrew Holden … riding 75km next week as a warm-up for his 200km challenge

May 22, 2015

Goomeri resident Andrew Holden’s 200km “Ride To Conquer Cancer” is getting closer, so he has a “little” training ride planned for next week.

Andrew, who is the store manager for BGA AgriServices in Goomeri, will ride 75km from Kingaroy to Goomeri next Friday (May 29).

He will start at BGA AgriServices in Kingaroy and hopes to finish the ride at noon at his store in Goomeri.

Andrew would love to see lots of local residents coming down to the BGA AgriServices car park to welcome him home.

He said there would be plenty of other activities happening with a BGA In-Store Day with displays from supporting ag businesses.

The Goomeri Lions Club will be on site with their famous chip van selling burgers and drinks (with proceeds going to the Ride to Conquer Cancer).

“I have been very lucky to have the support of some wonderful local people and businesses including the Goomeri Grand Hotel, the Lions Club, CROW-FM 90.7 and of course, BGA AgriServices,” Andrew said.

“I am aiming to raise a total of $5000 for cancer research and appreciate all donations received. If I reach my target, I have promised to wear a pink tutu so I encourage everyone to support my ride.”

Andrew has signed up for the “Rio Tinto Ride To Conquer Cancer” in August during which he has to ride 200km over two days.

Funds raised from the event will support the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, a worldwide leader in cancer research and discovery.
