The South Burnett Saints hosted their first home games for the season on Sunday at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.

Unfortunately the senior men’s game was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, however, that didn’t stop the Saints’ women’s team celebrating their historic first ever home game.

Fans also enjoyed the U16s game.

The female Saints have been having a tough introduction to the Darling Downs AFL competition, suffering injuries in the first round and a big defeat last week.

They did much better before their home crowd on Sunday but still couldn’t defeat the Souths Bombers, who ran away with the match after half-time.

The full-time score was Souths 11.22 (88) to South Burnett 4.2 (26).

Saints’ goalkickers were  Marika Burrows (2) and Greer Shepherd (2).

Souths also proved too strong in the U16s, finishing ahead 22.17 (149) to 2.4 (16). Saints’ goals were kicked by Taj Jones.
