Police have charged a 28-year-old man following an apparent “bike-jacking” attempt on the D’Aguilar Highway on Saturday morning.

Police will allege that about 11:00am the man stopped a motorcycle at Wamuran, threatened the rider and tried to take his bike.

However, the man was unable to start the motorcycle and then allegedly left the scene in another vehicle.

Police say they tried to intercept this vehicle but it failed to stop.

The vehicle was then found parked on Ironbark Drive, Woodford, where police allege a struggle ensued as they tried to remove the man from the vehicle.

During this time the man allegedly assaulted a police officer and tried to flee from the scene.

Police used a taser to subdue the man and took him into custody.

It will be alleged the man and the vehicle he was driving were also involved in another traffic crash earlier on the D’Aguilar Highway.

The 28-year-old Caboolture man has been charged with 11 offences including three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, two counts of serious assault police and one count of attempted robbery, wilful damage, possessing dangerous drugs, failing to stop, driving without a licence and obstructing police.

He is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Monday (April 27).
