In 2013, Yarraman State School students made a great video with the help of country music singer Josh Arnold’s Small Town Culture project to promote their town (see above) … now Kilkivan has the opportunity to get a similar boost, but you have to vote for them!

Josh, a Golden Guitar winner, developed the school program in 2007 and since then has been collaborating with Queensland students to create original music from their ideas.

Last year he won a Regional Services Award for his work in schools and rural communities.

Recently he has been visiting more schools and has narrowed now the final Top 10 towns for Small Town Culture’s “Australian Regional Community Competition”.

The finalists are Augathella, Birdsville, Charleville, Clermont, Dirranbandi, Kilkivan, Kooralbyn, Texas, Wanaaring and Yarrabah.

For a town to win, “likes” must be recorded on Small Town Culture’s Facebook page before noon on March 30.

The town which receives the most “likes” wins. However, to be counted, the “likes” must be on the original post on The Small Town Culture page, not on any shared posts.

The winning town will receive a song and music video created for their town by the Small Town Culture team.

The song will also be distributed to 400 radio stations across Australia.
