A 28-year-old driver breath-tested by police on the Bunya Highway on Thursday night allegedly blew 0.173 BAC – more than three times the legal limit.

The woman, driving an older model Mitsubishi Magna, was pulled over north of Kingaroy and was apparently heading back home to Ballogie.

“She was extremely intoxicated. That’s an extremely high reading for a female. The result could have been tragic,” Kingaroy Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said.

“Police were so concerned for her safety that they transported her home.”

At 1:00am on Saturday, police breath-tested a Kingaroy man in Youngman Street. He allegedly blew 0.079.

A 71-year-old man playing chicken with traffic at the intersection of Youngman and Alford streets, Kingaroy, will face charges of public nuisance and obstructing police.

Snr Sgt Frank said police were called at 7:00pm on Friday and found the man “behaving erratically”.

“He was jumping out in front of cars and hitting them,” Snr Sgt Frank.

“He was also unco-operative with police, wanting to argue and fight.”

The man was also issued with a notice to appear in court on a charge of wilful damage in relation to an incident in Wondai earlier in the week.

When police stopped an older model Commodore in Kingaroy Street at 2:30am on Saturday, they discovered the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured – and it was the fifth time the 36-year-old woman driver had been pulled over in an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

Snr Sgt Frank said police immediately impounded the vehicle and it could be subject to court forfeiture.

A 40-year-old woman has been issued with a notice to appear in court to face a charge of possessing a dangerous drug after a drug search warrant was executed on a house in Kingaroy.

Police allegedly located a small amount of cannabis.

On Friday, Kingaroy detectives and Nanango police raided a property on Mt Stanley Road in a search for illegal firearms and ammunition.

They were accompanied by a “bomb dog” from the Explosive Ordnance Response team, based in Brisbane.

After a search of the property, police charged a 45-year-old man with unlawful possession of explosives (small calibre ammunition).

Snr Sgt Frank said the incident demonstrated that Kingaroy Police had access to specialist teams from Brisbane.

“If  we believe we have a need of them, they will come to the South Burnett,” he said.

Kingaroy police were called on Friday afternoon to a property on the Westaroy Estate in River Road after claims a stolen pump could be seen in the tray of a ute parked at the location.

There was no one at home when police visited, however they allegedly located a general purpose pump which had  been stolen from a Hope Dairies property in the Kumbia area. Police also allegedly located a number of cannabis plants.

A 56-year-old man has been issued with a notice to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on April 27 to face charges of producing dangerous drugs and stealing.
