With consistent light rain, the threat of a tree-falling thunderstorm, commitments to Australia Day functions and other social requirements, the South Burnett’s Games Directors had their hands full completing their own Australia Day program this week.

All the same, there were a smattering of good events on the region’s grreensd this week.

Here’s a quick wrap-up:

Nanango News

To avoid clashes with Australia Day celebrations, Nanango held their own celebrations on Saturday.

Sixteen players turned up to Oi! Oi! Oi!

Three bowl pairs were played, with the follkowing results:

  • Trevor George and Sue Tucker def. Dot and Bob Hall 23-7
  • Noel Little and Glen Yeates def. Kerry Little and Athol Jensen 28-10
  • Sylvia Fanning and Sharron Yeates def. Bob Hammond and Henry Bliesner 29-20
  • Lew Saunders and Mike Wyvill def. Evelyn Jensen and Brian Havell 22-17

On Tuesday, in Social Triples:

  • Joe Aglizzio, Lew Saunders and John McConnell def. John Beattie, Cec Bracken and Bob Hall 27-21
  • Trevor George and Brian Havell def Bob Hammond, Henry Bliesner and Allan Carr 34-31

And on Wednesday in Ladies Trophy Day Triples:

  • Sylvia Fanning, Trevor George and Evelyn Jensen 27 def. Dot Hall, Heather Carr and Henry Bleisner 27-8
  • Di McNeilage, Kerry Little and Sue Tucker 23 def. Noel Little, Allan Carr and Bob Hall 23-11

Yarraman News

Yarraman had its problems this last week too.

There were over 100 people attending the Australia Day celebrations and a further 80 at the celebrations being held at Yarraman’s swimming pool.

This being so, they elcted to celebrate the day with a friendly game of three bowl pairs.

Scores of note:

  • Kev Profke and Sandra Currell def. Horst Myer and Di Currell 15-11
  • Bev Profke and Robyn Diercke def. Neil and Todd Curell 17-14

Kingaroy News

On Thursday. twenty-eight players took to the greens for the pairs and triples matches.

The weather was fine and despite the recent rain, the greens were running at a creditable 16 seconds.

The day’s winners were decided with a lucky card draw, and rthey were Peter Neilsen and Ray Crawford in their pairs match.

Resulrts:

  • Peter Neilsen and Ray Crawford def. Darcy Munro and Richie Patterson 25-15
  • Maree Millard, Hugh Harrison and Bruce Johnston def. Lindy Clutterbuck, Ross Olsson and Kev Raffin 27-12
  • Bob Bougoure, Geoff Clutterbuck and Col Kratzmann def. Erris Vale, Paul Marychurch and John Coppard 22-18
  • Des Richards, Marj Moore and Ray Maclaren def. Dave Barwick, Barry O’Brien and Alan Irwin 23-18
  • John Lacey, Lyle Dascombe and Alan Rogerson drew. Keith Muller, Glady Slatter and Bob Robinson 17-all

On Tuesday in the club’s Star of the Green competition, Noel Lanes defeated Jeff Welden and will play Gina Ryder next week.

Also on Tuesday – in Jackpot Special – the results were:
