Blue Light volunteer Toni Elder and Nanango Police Officer-in-Charge Sgt Jason Newton welcome Santa and Mrs Claus to the Nanango celebrations
Jaymi Parish, 7, from Nanango, was getting into the Christmas spirit

It was Nanango’s turn to celebrate Christmas and host a visit from Santa on Friday night.

The local boys in blue welcomed the man in red (and his missus) to the Blue Light Skating Hall in George Street where he handed out gifts to the waiting children.

As well as getting to meet Santa, the children also enjoyed free popcorn and snowcones.

A jumping castle also proved popular at the back of the hall.

Santa had also been expected to drop into Murgon’s Christmas Carnival on Friday night as well, but rain in the area caused organisers to postpone the fun and games until Monday evening.

We believe Santa has adjusted his diary bookings and will still be able to squeeze in a visit.

Sadly, Santa’s visit to Yarraman on Saturday has also been put off.

The Yarraman Progress Association said Errol Munt Park had received too much rain to allow the town Christmas festival to go ahead. They now plan to hold a celebration on New Year’s Day (January 1) but we suspect Santa will be safely back at the North Pole by then.

At the Blue Light Christmas were Nicole and Peter Coe, from Nanango, with Isaac, 2, and Emily, 3 … the children were having fun with thewir Christmas candle presents from Santa

One Response to "Santa Drops Into Nanango"

  1. Christmas, yes it is a special time of the year but driving around to see the lights of the neighbourhood I found some great lightings but very few with the meaning of Christmas with nativity scenes, even the Business Houses can be numbered on one hand that do have some lighting, So come on Kingaroy shops owners, is it all take and no showing of support? Kingaroy is a tired looking town, and maybe Christmas shop lightings will at least bring a smile even if it is only for 12 days
