It wouldn’t be a Kingaroy Christmas Carnival if it didn’t rain at some stage during the night, but this year the weather gods turned on the taps a little bit too early.

The rain on Thursday night kept the numbers down, but the brave souls who turned out enjoyed all the traditional fun of the fair – from photos with Santa to the Kingaroy Rotary Club’s ever-popular ham wheel.

Even the pony rides went ahead, although the riders and horses looked a little damp.

Many of the stalls relocated onto the footpaths under the protection of the awnings.

The rides, which didn’t share this protection, still attracted youngsters looking for a thrill.

Splatt Attack – where participants fire wet sponges at each other – was also proving popular (after all, everyone was already wet!).

This is the sixth year that the carnival has been organised by the South Burnett Young Leaders Association.

On Friday night, it’s Murgon’s turn to throw a Christmas party in the street, and if the forecasters are correct, the rain may be even heavier, so you’d better bring a brolly!

One Response to "Christmas In The Rain"

  1. Well done SBYLA, rain or not the show went ahead, plenty of fun and colour, lights and costumes. The little rain just added to the fair. Congratulations on yet another success!
