Once a month a group of residents gathers at St Philip’s Anglican Church in Yarraman to “Greet, Meet and Eat”.
This month, they could add “Sing” to the description …
The diners are invited by the Anglican Parish to share friendship and lunch on the third Friday of every month between February and November.
As today’s “Greet, Meet and Eat” was the last for the year, it had a special Christmas feel with lots of festive hats and live performances of Christmas carols from 15 members of the Blackbutt Singers.
“Greet, Meet and Eat” co-ordinator Davina Holmes said this was the third year the program had been running.
“It is a way to provide pastoral care out in the wider community,” she said.
“If we can bring the community together, they are doing pastoral care for each other.”
Davina said the “Greet, Meet and Eats” were designed to “get people to come out of their homes”.
“Sadly, a lot of people lock themselves away for all sorts of reasons,” she said.
The special Christmas “Greet, Meet and Eat” attracted 97 people, packing out the church and the church hall.
