Nominations for the South Burnett’s annual Australia Day Awards will close next Friday (November 10).

The awards provide the community an opportunity to acknowledge outstanding individuals and groups who are committed to improving our region’s lifestyle.

In 2018, Awards will be given for:

  • South Burnett Citizen of the Year
  • South Burnett Young Citizen of the Year
  • South Burnett Lifetime Achievement
  • South Burnett Sportsperson of the Year
  • South Burnett Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • South Burnett Sportsperson of the Year (Coach/Official Administrator)
  • South Burnett Volunteer of the Year
  • South Burnett Cultural Award (Senior)
  • South Burnett Cultural Award (Junior)
  • South Burnett Community Organisation of the Year
  • Local Achiever Award (Town & Rural)

While most of the Awards are region-wide, Local Achiever Awards allow individual towns the opportunity to nominate those who have made special contributions to their own local community.

The 2018 regional awards ceremony will be held at Murgon Town Hall on January 25 (the eve of Australia Day).

Further information about all of the Award categories and how to nominate is available on Council’s website
