Geoff Grevell and Sue Bradley love to sing … and they also love helping everyone have fun

September 20, 2014

Every fortnight, the front bar at Wondai’s Warana Hotel Motel becomes a magnet for music lovers keen to “have a go” behind the mike on a Friday night.

Wondai couple Geoff Grevell and Sue Bradley bring their “Love 2 Sing” karaoke gear – and an amazing 25,000 songs – to tempt the pub patrons to test their vocal skills.

Also tempting is the cash jackpot in “Warana dollars” which currently stands at $90.

The karaoke is free and everyone who is game enough to belt out a song is put into the draw for the jackpot prize.

The singers range from the very good – such as Wondai resident Lyn Rodgers who admits she takes it “very seriously” – to the not-so-good … but nobody cares, so long as everyone’s having a good time.

The fun kicks off at 7:30am and goes late into the night.

Some nights as many as 16 singers can be seen taking turns at the microphone. Every time they sing, they get another chance in the jackpot draw.

Geoff and Sue also take their karaoke equipment to Proston’s Golden Spurs Hotel once a month, and have also introduced the “jackpot” theme there, too.

One of the singers taking to the floor on Friday night at the Warana was Hedley Fisher, from Goomeri.

The well-known local singer travels down to Wondai every fortnight just to support Love 2 Sing.

Hedley’s talents will also be on display next month when he performs with Cherbourg band Deadly Wayz at various venues during the South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show long weekend.
