Kerrod, Steve and Kevin Walters passed on some good advice to their young fans

What’s the most important thing to do when playing rugby league? That’s the question the three Walters brothers posed to their young fans when they dropped in for a mini-training session at Kumbia on Friday.

Kerrod, twin brother Kevin and older brother Steve – who all played for Australia as well as representing Queensland in State of Origin – put the youngsters through some basic drills to sharpen up their rugby league skills.

There were tips on scoring tries (“use both hands to put the ball on the ground”), how to tackle (“keep your head to the side”) and how to pass (“run hard, pass soft”).

The weather was bitterly cold but the young players didn’t seem to mind as they took turns running and passing footballs on the Kumbia State School oval.

So what is the most important thing to do when playing rugby league? Have fun!
