The South Burnett Saints are now two points clear on the top of the Darling Downs AFL Division 2 table after taming the Cougars in Toowoomba today.

The Saints got off to a strong start in the first quarter, notching up five goals to University’s two.

The Cougars fought back before half-time but not enough to cut into the Saints’ lead.

South Burnett led at every change and romped away n the last quarter to finish 13.13 (91) to 8.10 (58
Adam Bowater led the way with the boot, spearing home six goals.

Saints’ other goals were kicked by Daniel Rogers (2), Paul Pressnell (2), Ty Snow, Keiran Snow and Brad Edwards.

The South Burnett’s next match – and their last scheduled home game ahead of the finals – will be played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy next Saturday against the Chinchilla Suns.
