The Kingaroy and Murgon Quota Clubs held a special get-together at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on Friday night. And it was all in a good cause: Angel Flight Australia.
Angel Flight provides non-emergency free flights for country people who have to travel long distances for medical appointments.
On Saturday night, members from the two clubs gathered at the Wondai Gallery to enjoy wine from the nearby Wondai Hotel & Cellar, finger foods, live entertainment by saxophonist Tom McKenzie (who was loaned by the hotel for the occasion) and the latest exhibition by Sunshine Coast artists June McCotter and Lori Sedgman.
John Tully spoke about the work Angel Flight does. Artist June McCotter, who had come up from the Sunshine Coast especially for the event and who donated one of her artworks for the evening’s raffle, also spoke to the crowd.
In all, the evening raised several hundred dollars for Angel Flight.
And in a surprise twist, Gallery curator Elaine Madill – who hosted the event – won the raffle.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” she said.
“I love this picture of June’s and when she put it up for the raffle I had to buy extra tickets.”
