The Maidenwell Bull Ride – the highlight of the big “Wombat Weekend” – attracted more than 400 people to the Maidenwell Hotel on Sunday night.

Publican Gavin Jones said it had been three hours of “flat-strap, non-stop” action which culminated in a tie for first place in the Open Bull Ride.

2013 Australian bull riding champion Fraser Babbington tied with Gold Coast rider Reece Weller, on 83 points.

Gavin said the whole Wombat Weekend had been a big success with Saturday night’s pig-on-the-spit attracting a big crowd after the Nanango Races.

The hotel put on a bus to the races which catered for about 40 happy punters.
