The South Burnett’s “formal season” hit the red carpet on Tuesday night with the St Mary’s Catholic College Valedictory Dinner the first of the Year 12 celebrations.

The dinner, which is usually held in the Tobruk Room at the Kingaroy RSL, was shifted to the Kingaroy Town Hall to cater for the large number of Year 12s – the biggest group at the school since 1998.

Students arrived in everything from an ice cream van to a bright red 1958 Chev. There was also a sprinkling of Camaros, Mustangs and GT Falcons.

P&F president Damien Martoo provided a running commentary on the cars and fashions as each student stepped into the limelight.

The most unusual date belonged to Rachael Patroni who was accompanied by a very well-behaved miniature schnauzer called Kenny (an ex-Australian Grand Champion!)

Friends and family lined the red carpet, taking photos and videos as the soon-to-be ex-students arrived in Hollywood style and then walked arm-in-arm to the Town Hall.
