The Maidenwell Folk Gathering at the weekend was so popular that organisers have already set the date for the next big bash … it will be held on March 14-16, 2014.

The area in and around the Maidenwell Hotel was transformed into a mini music festival from Friday with musicians of all shapes and sizes taking turns on the indoor and outdoor stages.

The Jemalong walk-up stage, under a fig tree at the back of the hotel, operated all day Saturday under the expert attention of musician and soundman Andrew Beckett, from Murgon, who recorded many of the performances.

On Saturday night, the chalkboard concert inside the hotel attracted a large crowd.

But it was not all just about music.  There were also practical workshops for musicians,  bush poetry and even heritage seeds available for sale and swap.
