Cherbourg’s Yurri Muntha Cafe will be adding a gourmet French touch to the South Burnett and Cherbourg On Show long weekend.

On Saturday, October 5, the Cafe will be serving Duck a l’Orange on its menu, cooked to an authentic French recipe using Bendele Farm ducks from Kilkivan and farm fresh oranges from Gayndah.

The South Burnett’s version of one of the world’s most famous recipes has been perfected by Chef Jaques – formerly of Dusty Hill and the Old Dairy Restaurant – and passed on to Yurri Muntha staff especially for the occasion.

Chef Jaques will be in the Cafe’s kitchens personally supervising the preparation of his signature creation on the day.

And guests at the Cafe can enjoy it – or any other item on the menu – between 10:00am and 2:00pm.

The Yurri Muntha Cafe opened near Cherbourg’s Ration Shed Museum earlier this year and now provides the community with full cafe and catering services.

The Cafe is owned by Cherbourg Shire Council, run by full-time manager and professional caterer Sheree Strauss and staffed by indigenous trainees.

In addition to light meals, lunches and refreshments, the Cafe also stocks a range of authentic bush sauces, jams and condiments; and original artworks by Cherbourg artists adorn its walls.

The Cafe will be running in tandem with the Ration Shed’s Museum Open Day (which will also run from 10:00am to 2:00pm) so that visitors can enjoy morning tea at the Cafe, take a tour of the Ration Shed Museum, and then return to Yurri Muntha for lunch if they wish.

Visitors who’d like a fully-inclusive tour can also book seats on a bus that will be travelling from Kingaroy to Cherbourg on the Saturday morning, and returning in the afternoon.

The tour includes return bus transport, entry to the Ration Shed’s Open Day, and a Duck a l’Orange lunch at Yurri Muntha.

Seats are limited. To book, phone Sheree on 0417-726-702.
