The annual Murgon Christmas Carnival had fun for all the family ... including these colourful characters who spent the night wandering the streets
December 14, 2012
Christmas is a time for giving and in Murgon, this also means giving back … the town’s popular annual Christmas Carnival is designed to be a giant “thank you” to local residents from local businesses.
Seventy businesses banded together for the promotion, many providing gifts or coupons for giveaways as well as stumping up the cash to make the festival a reality.
There were subsidised rides and a giant slide for the kids, wandering entertainers, the Wondai Town Band and, of course, Santa.
This is the 19th year that the Murgon Business Association Christmas Fair Committee has organised the evening of entertainment which fills Lamb Street.
It costs about $20,000 to stage and is totally sponsored by local businesses.
A highlight this year was a $6000 Grab For Cash where 15 lucky shoppers had the chance to select a Christmas stocking from a wheel and win a share in “Murgon cash” to be spent at any of the 70 participating stores.
