June Jones holding her prize-winning “Container – Any Mixed Flowers” in the Horticultural Competition at this year’s Wondai Spring Garden Expo

October 3, 2012

The Wondai Garden Club’s Horticultural Show was held at the Spring Garden Expo last Saturday and Sunday, and entries were displayed in the Wondai Sportsground’s Lions Pavilion on both days.

This year’s Horticultural Show drew a record number of entries, according to Wondai Garden Club President Helen Young.

This was partly due to a good Spring growing season, she said; partly to growing enthusiasm for the Spring Expo; and partly to a change in the deadline for delivery of entries, which altered from Saturday morning to Friday evening this year, giving the Show’s stewards more time to arrange the entries to best effect.

Competition judging took place early on Saturday morning and took several hours to complete.
