The Department of Natural Resources and Mines has asked South Burnett Regional Council to prepare a land management plan before a decision is made about whether a portion of Adermann Park in Kingaroy is sold.

This process requires community consultation which includes a public notice being placed in a local newspaper.

A department spokesman said DNRM received an application from St John’s Lutheran School on August 2 to purchase part of Adermann Park in Ivy Street, Kingaroy.

Adermann Park is located on a park and recreation reserve. The South Burnett Regional Council is the appointed trustee.

On September 25, DNRM requested Council prepare a land management plan to identify the qualities and appropriate use of the park.

The spokesman said that anyone with concerns regarding the proposal could use this process to ensure their views are received and considered in the preparation of the land management plan.

Council has not yet told DNRM when they will conduct the consultation process.

The spokesman said any decision to sell part of the park would be made by DNRM in accordance with the Land Act 1994 which would include the assessment of the SBRC’s land management plan.
