The offensive image which Facebook refuses to remove

What do you have to do to get an offensive, bullying image taken off Facebook?

That’s what one South Burnett resident is wondering.

The woman, who lives in Kingaroy but does not wish to be named, has twice reported an image to Facebook which has been placed on a local-themed page.

Twice Facebook has “reviewed” the image – that suggests a local schoolgirl has AIDs – and  twice has refused to remove the photograph.

“They say it doesn’t breach Facebook’s community standards, although it obviously does,” the woman said.

“Facebook says it does not tolerate bullying or harassment, so what would it classify this as?

“We all know that teenagers can be very nasty to each other but I would expect with all the anti-bullying messages out there that people would be aware that this sort of thing could lead to tragic circumstances.

“The fact that Facebook won’t remove the image simply disgusts me.

“It is a large international company, what does it care if it ruins a young girl’s life?”
