An amazing Kingaroy Show was topped off by an amazing South Burnett Speedway meeting last night … and the large crowd went wild when local hero David Barbeler took out the 25-lap Modified Productions feature race.

Barbeler worked his way through the field on a slippery track to slide into top spot at the last minute, pipping Peter Gary from Toowoomba. Third was Steven Zahl from Hervey Bay.

The race was interrupted by a couple of spectacular rollovers.

Stephen “Chookie” Geritz, from Kingaroy, and Mick Shelford (Dalby) both walked away from massive incidents. Shelford’s vehicle actually ended up on top of Jessica Raymont’s Falcon, but Jessica also escaped unscathed.

Earlier in the night, Jayden Peacock had a major crash in the Junior Sedans, but also escaped injury.

Results:

Modified Productions – David Barbeler

Street Sedans – Ben Stead

Wingless Sprints – Ken Crompton

Junior Sedans – Carter Armstrong

4 Cylinders – Joel Thomas

The Kingaroy Show meeting is the last meeting of the season for the South Burnett Speedway Club.  Racing will resume on September 29-30 with the Queensland Street Sedan Title.

On a personal note,  journalist Anne Miller from southburnett.com.au would like to thank the team from Burnett Mechanical for inviting her to take part as a passenger in the Street Sedans – it was awesome!
