Wet weather over the weekend failed to dampen enthusiasm for this year’s Nanango Show.

Crowd numbers were only slightly down on normal and many people stayed all day and right into the evening to see the fireworks.

Nanango Show Society Secretary Steve Jeffery said that organisers were “very pleased” with the turnout.

“This year’s Show was a tremendous success,” he said.

“That was shown by the large number of entries we had in the pavilion displays and our cattle competitions, where we saw a lot of magnificient animals.

“But we were also very pleased with the response to our Alpaca Fleece Show and Champion Dog Show.

“Even the cookery exhibits were culinary delights.”

Death-defying stunt motorcycle riding proved a major hit with audiences this year, and so did chainsaw sculpting – an auction of chainsaw sculptures later in the evening saw several pieces sold at prices ranging up to $700 each.
