Horse Events Cancelled At 2012 Goomeri Show
23-Mar-12: Horse events planned for tomorrow's Goomeri Show were cancelled this morning due to the boggy nature of the main rings caused by this week's wet weather. Organisers said that safety concerns had prompted the move, but that all other animal events (including cattle judging) will proceed as normal. The Show will run from 8:00am to 10:00pm. Katter Calls On Faithful For Final Stand
22-Mar-12: Australian Party leader Bob Katter called on the party's faithful to pull out all stops in Kingaroy last night after new polling showed the KAP may not win any seats at all in Saturday's election. South Burnett Wines To Feature At Brolga Theatre
21-Mar-12: South Burnett wines and liquers will be served at the Brolga Theatre's new Gusto restaurant in Maryborough when it opens next month, along with fresh foods and seafoods drawn from the Hervey Bay area. Last Chance To See Queensland KAP Leader?
21-Mar-12: South Burnett voters may have a last chance to see Katter's Australian Party leader Aidan McClinton when he appears at a public meeting in Kingaroy tonight along with Bob Katter and KAP candidate Carl Rackemann. Readers Outraged Over KAP TV Ads
19-Mar-12: KAP candidate Carl Rackemann was slammed by local readers today over his party's "hateful" ads against civil unions. Police Crackdown On Illegal Hunting
16-Mar-12: Kingaroy and Kilkivan police plan to target poachers in the Manumbar, Tansey, Kilkivan and Widgee areas after receiving complaints from farmers about illegal deer hunting. Penalties for offences include heavy fines and imprisonment. Read more on the Gympie Times website
PorkMark Says It's Aussie Pork
15-Mar-12: Industry body Australian Pork Ltd has launched a campaign to highlight the pink square PorkMark, a guarantee that a bacon product is 100 per cent Australian. "Made in Australia" does not mean a product is made from Australian-grown pork, only that it has been manufactured here. This pork can be imported frozen, thawed out and then manufactured into bacon. KCCI Calls For Less Red Tape
14-Mar-12: The Kingaroy Chamber Of Commerce has called on Nanango's political candidates to say what they'll do about cutting red tape for small business. KCCI President Rod Steele says most businesses in the area are small operations that would benefit from less paperwork, and says compliance costs are a big disincentive. Tarong Helps Restock Bjelke-Petersen Dam
13-Mar-12: Tarong Power Station will contribute $9,000 over the next the years to help restock Murgon's Bjelke-Petersen Dam with fish. The money will be given to the Bjelke-Petersen Dam Fish Management Committee, who are working to raise fish levels after losses caused by the 2011 floods. Read more on SouthBurnett.Biz.
