Online and Telephone
Health Services Links
There are now a number of health services available in Australia as either
1800 Freecall or 1300 Local Call phone services. Over time,
an increasing number of health information resources are also appearing online.
Here are some that might be useful:

000 Emergencies
-
If you need an ambulance, the police or the fire brigade, you should
dial 000. This is a free 24 hour, 7 day service and your call will
be routed by the 000 call centre to the nearest local source of assistance.
In any cases of natural disaster, though (eg: flood, cyclone, bushfire
etc) you should ring the SES central call number 132 500, not 000.

13 HEALTH (1343-2584)
-
Queensland Health operate this 24 hours a day, 7 day help line where
qualified staff will give you advice on who to talk to about any health concerns
you may have and suggest how quickly you should do it - all for the cost
of a local call. However, you should note that 13 HEALTH is not a
diagnostic service and should not replace medical consultation. And in a
medical emergency you should always dial 000.
