The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Tuesday get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. MBDA Meet & Greet - Murgon
The Murgon Business and Development Association will be holding a Meet & Greet for Murgon district business operators in the beer garden of the Royal Hotel at the corner of Lamb and Gore Streets, Murgon from 5:45pm tonight. Dinners (optional) will be available from the hotel if you want to eat and all Murgon district businesses are welcome along for a relaxed chat and mingling, whether they're currently MBDA members or not. Visit South Burnett AGM - Kingaroy
Local tourism organisation Visit South Burnett will be holding its Annual General Meeting at Kingaroy Town Hall Supper Room in Glendon Street, Kingaroy at 6:00pm tonight (entry is via the rear of the town hall). These formalities will be followed by an industry meet and greet and all people with an interest in the development of the region's tourism are very welcome, whether they're VSB members or not. Note: A meeting fee of $10 applies to cover the cost of nibbles and drinks, but to help plan the catering an RSVP by text to 0438-434-033 would be greatly appreciated.

Tuesday Night Bingo - Blackbutt
Bingo games will be held at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 7:00pm tonight (eyes down at 7:30pm sharp). SBRC Standing Committee Meeting - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding its Community Standing Committee meeting at the Warren Truss Chambers inside its Glendon Street offices in Kingaroy from 9:00am this morning. Due to pandemic restrictions this meeting is not open to the general public, but interested people can view it via a livestream on the Council's website.

Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 8:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price ($40 for a trolley-full of grocery items, fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy products, or $30 without meat, to people facing financial difficulties.

Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their final monthly exhibition for 2020 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month - and next - the gallery will be showcasing a hand-picked selection of paintings and sculptures from the South Burnett Regional Council's art collection. These works have been collected over many decades are have rarely been seen outside Kingaroy, so the exhibition will provide a very rare chance for many people to view them. Meanwhile, children from Wondai State School will be mounting their own mini-exhibition in Kidz Korner. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings Cranes Winery, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.

Nanango Christmas Race Meeting
The Nanango Race Club will be holding their annual Christmas Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 11:00am to around 5:00pm today. Today's races will have an "It's All About Christmas" theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best Christmas hats and/or outfits to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field prizes. The race club's popular Champagne Bar will be serving up platters all day if you fancy a bite; a licensed bar and BBQ will be operating under the extended covered area; the race club canteen will be open for sit-down dining; children will be catered for with face-painting and ice creams plus a visit from Santa Claus; and there'll be plenty of bookmakers and an on-course tote in the betting ring. A lot of people like to use the Christmas race meeting for festive season parties and you're welcome to picnic on the lawns or even bring your own marquee if you like. This will be a 5 race meeting and buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and the rear of Nanango's Fitzroy Hotel at 12:30pm. The first race will leave the barriers around 1:20pm but gates will open at 11:00am so go-getters can get a head start on that all-important socialising. Nanango Parkrun
The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.

Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. The Coasters & Amanda Sempf - Linville
The Linville Hotel at Linville will be hosting The Coasters on the beer garden stage from noon to 3:00pm this afternoon, followed by Blackbutt entertainer Amanda Sempf from 4:30pm until around 7:30pm. Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's cricketers will be playing in Wondai, Murgon and Nanango today. In A Grade, Murgon Crusaders will take on Wooroolin Warriors in the Preliminary Final of the Gympie competition at Murgon Sportsground from 9:00am with the winner to go through to the Grand Final. In B Grade, the third rounds of T20 games will be played, which means double headers! At 11:30am, Cherbourg will play Nanango's Scorpions at Murgon State High School; Wondai will play Murgon's Diggers at the Wondai Cricket Grounds; and Kingaroy Services will play Wooroolin's Warriors at the Murgon Sportsgrounds. Then at 3:00pm, Cherbourg will play the Kumbia Rattlers at Murgon State High; Wondai will play Nanango at the Wondai Cricket Grounds; and Diggers will play Wooroolin Warriors at Murgon Sportsground. And finally - in Juniors - Kingaroy Northern AgriServices will play Nanango at the Burnett Street sportsgrounds in Nanango at 8:00am in the Stage 2 competition; and in Stage 3, Nanango Scorpions will play Murgon on another pitch at the Burnett Street sportsgrounds, also at 8:00am. Spectators are very welcome at all matches but must observe proper social distancing.

Big Peanut Sausage Sizzle - Kingaroy
A free sausage sizzle will be held at Andersson’s Fruit Market in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to 11:00am this morning so members of the public can learn more about Kingaroy's Big Peanut project, which aims to put build a modern, metal sculpture of a peanut and mount it in Lions Park in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy. The committee behind the Big Peanut campaign have been working on this project for several years and recently received permission from Council to locate the statue in Lions Park once it's built. Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Maidenwell Christmas Tree
The annual Maidenwell Christmas Tree will be held at Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street, Maidenwell from 6:00pm tonight. This annual get-together - held primarily for students at Tanduringie State School and local children - is organised by the Maidenwell QCWA and will feature $2 sausage sizzles and $5 steakette burgers, $1 raffles for fruit and veggies, and carol singing at 7:00pm until Santa arrives at around 7:30pm. Muddy Flats - Wondai
The South Burnett's hugely popular Indigenous band Muddy Flats will be performing at the Hotel Cecil in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until late tonight, weaving their magic as only the Muddies can. South Burnett Shed Men - Kingaroy
Jordan Bennett invites all men (and young men) to their 65th meeting which will be held from 5:00pm-8:00pm today at Nev & Jason Jorgensen’s machinery shed, 88 Jorgensens Road, Kingaroy. Guest speaker will be Russell Lebsanft who will discuss his time as a Christian in the legal and judicial system. BYO food and drinks; barbecues will be available for use, tea and coffee available. Moffatdale Boutique Markets
The Moffatdale Boutique Markets will be running a Twilight Market at Moffatdale Ridge Winery at 681 Barambah Road, Moffatdale from 3:00pm to around 7:00pm this afternoon (to avoid the worst of the mid-day heat). As many as 60 stall-holders will be attending, offering artisnal and hand-made wares that could make very special Christmas gifts. Moffatdale Ridge's cellar door will also be open, offering a full range of wines and liqueurs. There's no admission charge and everyone is welcome.

Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt

Kumbia Christmas Carnival
Kumbia's 20th annual Christmas Carnival will be held in and around Kumbia Hall in Bell Street from 5:00pm until late this evening. Features of this year's event will include a special focus on crafts, with lots of craft stalls selling unique, hand-crafted Yuletide gifts; a jumping catle and other fun stalls for children; live musical entertainment; and the drawing of a raffle for a Giant Christmas Hamper, along with lots of quick ham and chook raffles. A sausage sizzle BBQ will be running and there'll also be hot chips, tea, coffee, soft drinks, ice creams and desserts available in the grounds. Santa himself will be paying a visit to give away sample bags to children up to Year 7 at around 7:15pm. There'll also be lots of market stalls around the grounds too. Kingaroy Community Christmas Carols
Kingaroy's annual Community Christmas Carols service will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 5:00pm this afternoon (carols start at 6:00pm). This year's gathering is being presented by the Kingaroy District Ministry Association and several sponsors and will feature a performance by The Walmsley Brothers. Due to the pandemic the traditional food stalls won't be on hand, and families who want to sit near the front should bring blankets and cushions to sit on (BYO chairs if you want to sit further back). As usual, this afternoon's carols service is a completely free, family-friendly event to which everyone is invited. Note: In the unlikely event of rain, the carols will relocate inside the Town Hall.

Festival Of Cultures Meeting - Kingaroy
CANCELLED: The Festival Of Cultures committee will be holding a meeting at Kingaroy's 1913 Council Chambers (behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre) at 5:00pm tonight. The committee plan to hold a multi-cultural festival in Kingaroy in 2021, and all interested people who'd like to get involved are very welcome to attend. Note: This meeting was cancelled by the organisers without notice or explanation.

Community Christmas Concert - Murgon

Virgo Funerals will be holding their 12th annual Christmas Remembrance Service at their chapel in the South Burnett Crematorium at Pioneer Avenue, Kingaroy (opposite Taabinga Cemetery) at 6:30pm this evening. This year's non-denominational service will be officiated by a minister from the Kingaroy Ministers Fraternal and will be followed by refreshments in the chapel's gardens afterwards. The South Burnett Speedway will roar into life at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy tonight with its Christmas Cup meeting - the last for 2020. Tonight's get-together will feature the Uniform Zone Queensland Street Stock Titles, the Super Sedan Queensland Series, and Round 3 of the Junior Sedan All Star Series. Gates will open at 2:00pm, racing will start at 4:00pm and the excitement will continue until around 10:30pm tonight. Admission is $25 for adults, $15 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners or $65 for a family of two adults and up to three students (children 12 and under are free). In B Grade, the last round of the current series of T20 games will be played. At 11:30am, Cherbourg will play Murgon's Diggers at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy; Kumbia Rattlers will play Nanango Scorpions at Kingaroy State School in Alford Street; and Wondai Wolves will play Kingaroy Services at the Burnett Street sports fields in Nanango. The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.

Goomeri New Year's Eve Family Rodeo
The Goomeri Show Society will be holding their annual New Year's Eve Family Rodeo at the Goomeri Showgrounds today and tonight to help ring in the New Year. Gates will open and junior rodeo action will commence at 8:00am; pre-performance events will begin at 1:00pm; and the main rodeo will kick off around 4:30pm and continue into the evening. The event is a full NRA-affiliated Rodeo with $11,000 in prizes, so you can be certain of seeing some really top class action. Events on offer include an Open Bull Ride, Saddle and Bareback Broncs, Time Event Stock and the must-have Poddy Ride for all the junior cowboys and cowgirls. And after the rodeo concludes there'll be toe-tapping live entertainment from Rob Black And Band until late. A fully licensed bar and BBQ will be operating all day and night, and there's also free unpowered camping sites available on the grounds if you want to stay over after the party winds down around 1:00am. The Palace's restaurant will be open for meals from 5:30pm to 8:00pm if you want to grab dinner beforehand, but because it's New Years bookings are absolutely essential. Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution.
