South Burnett Pantry - Tablelands
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from noon to 2:30pm today at Tablelands Hall in Tablelands. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). PS: The Pantry normally operates from Kingaroy, but they now come to Tablelands Hall on the first Thursday of every month except January, too.

St Joseph's Bingo - Murgon
St Joseph's Parish Hall in Angel Avenue, Murgon will be hosting bingo games from 7:30pm this evening. There'll be $1000 in prizes on offer as well as a canteen and lucky bingo tickets. Proceeds will go to aid St Joseph's school and community works.

Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. Friday night rugby league returns to Kingaroy tonight with both junior and senior games being played at T.J. O'Neill Oval. Kingaroy Red Ants U6s and U12s will be in action against Murgon from 5:15pm. A Grade Kingaroy v Murgon will kick off at 7:00pm. The bar will be open.

Friday Afternoon Scroungers - Nanango

Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:30pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2017 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting “The Wenlock River Project” by Annabel Tully, Noel Miller, Russell Shakespeare and Robert Irwin, a unique touring exhibition of paintings and photographs by a group of artists who draw their inspiration from travelling to the Steve Irwin Reserve on Cape York. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Clovely Estate, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding their latest "Friday Night Live" from 5:00pm to 9:00pm this evening. Friday Night Live is open to all primary school and high school students and the get-together features music and a range of fun activities. Food and soft drinks are available from the PCYC canteen and free bus travel is available from Goomeri and Wondai, with pick up at 5:30pm (5:50pm in Goomeri) and return after 9:00pm. Rugby league fans in pursuit of a Saturday A-grade match should head north to Cherbourg today, where the Wondai Wolves will play the Cherbourg Hornets in U6s/U8s at 10:00am; U10s at 11:00am; U12s at Noon; U16s at 1:00pm, and the A-grade clash at 2:30pm. At Fred Kassulke Oval in Nanango - Nanango's U16s side will play the Central Burnett Brumbies at 2:00pm, and at T.J. O'Naill Oval in Kingaroy, the U16s Red Ants will take on Chinchilla at 2:30pm.

Proston State School Sausage Sizzle
A sausage sizzle and car wash to help raise funds for Proston State School's Year 6 Canberra trip and the Proston State School Cattle Show Team will be held outside Proston Rural Supplies next to Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 9:00am to noon this morning. Car washes will be available for $10 to $15 (depending on the size of the vehicle) an inexpensive sausage sizzle, tea, coffee, soft drinks, cappuccinos and cakes. Everyone is welcome!

Saturday Soccer - Nanango and Kingaroy
The South Burnett's 2017 soccer season will hold its seventh round in Nanango and Kingaroy today. In Nanango, home team Nanango will play Barambah at the Burnett Street Soccer Fields, with 2nd Division hitting the park at 12:30pm, Women's Division at 2:00pm and 1st Division at 3:15pm. And in Kingaroy, Wests will play Gunners at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, with 2nd Division kicking off at 2:00pm, Women's Division at 3:30pm and 1st Division under lights at 5:00pm. Admission to view the matches is free, and a canteen will be running at both venues. Spectators are very welcome! Meanwhile, the 2017 Junior Soccer competition will continue today at the junior soccer fields in Oliver Bond Street, with the first matches getting underway at 8:30am in all classes from U6s to U10/11s. Cadets and U12/13s will hit the park slightly earlier at 8:00am.

Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 300 to 400 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? SDRQ Training Weekend - Benarkin
Sled Dog Racing Queensland - a social sled dog racing club formed in 2014 which wants to expand the sport in Queensland - will be holding a training weekend today and tomorrow at their Benarkin State Forest training track. Bowls & Burgers For Beginners To Best - Murgon
The Murgon Bowls Club in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding "Bowls & Burgers for Beginners To Best" from 1:00pm to 4:30pm today as a fundraiser for the Murgon Local Ambulance Committee. It will feature barefoot bowls (or flat soled shoes without heels) followed by a barbecue, and it will be a fun day out for family and friends with prizes to be won (no prior bowls experience or gear is necessary). Aussie Rules - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints' men's and women's teams will be back in action today in Kingaroy after a week off. Both will be facing up to to the Toowoomba Tigers. The women's game will start at 1:30pm and the men's at 3:30pm at Lyle Vidler Oval.

Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Sisterhood Day Conference - Kingaroy
The Highway Christian Church at 66 Edenvale Road, Kingaroy will be holding a Sisterhood Day Conference from 9:30am today. The Golden Spurs Hotel in Blake Street, Proston will be holding a bumper day of social pool and darts from 11:00am this morning right through until almost midnight tonight. Burnett Bridal Showcase - Kingaroy
The Burnett Bridal Showcase weddings and events expo will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to 3:00pm today. Local wedding vendors will be on hand displaying their many services - from photographers to venues, floral arrangements, hire companies and many more - and there'll also be lucky door prizes too. Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Maidenwell Markets
If you're heading up to the Bunya Mountains today, go via Maidenwell and you can browse the Maidenwell Markets at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (just next to the Rural Fire Brigade HQ in the heart of town) between 8:00am and 12:00 noon this morning. These markets offer a range of arts and crafts, local produce, plants, home baking, bric-a-brac, sauces, jams, chutneys, coffee, food and lots more (there's even a jumping castle for children). BYO 22.5km Horse Ride - Teelah
Horsetrax Oz will be holding a BYO 22.5km horse ride for advanced riders around Teelah and the southern part of the Bicentennial National Trail for a maximum of four riders today. The ride will depart from Old Esk Road near Stretton Drive at Teelah around 8:00am and travel along some very challenging hills and tracks. Horses with good feet won't need shoes because there is pretty good footing on the tracks, but the hills are fairly rocky - however boots for riders are optional. Whitsunday PCYC Fundraiser Day - Murgon
The Murgon branch of the Commonwealth Bank will be holding a fundraising day today to help the Whitsunday PCYC, which was devastated by Cyclone Debbie earlier this year.The PCYC Whitsunday suffered huge loss and are currently struggling to provide much needed services to their local Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and Proserpine communities. In a similar fashion to the South Burnett PCYC, the Whitsunday PCYC provided after school care for 70 children in the area and additional services including youth mentoring and leadership, youth gymnastics and sports and an over 55’s programme. All proceeds of today's activities will be donated to help them get back on their feet.

The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) will be officially opening the Queensland Winter Craft Festival with a wine and cheese tasting between 6:00pm and 8:00pm tonight. Kingaroy Lions Trail Ride - Benair
The first day of the weekend-long Kingaroy Lions Trail Ride will be held at Half Mile Creek Road, off Minmore Road south-west of Kingaroy (look for the signs) from 8:30am this morning through until late this afternoon. This annual 2-day event is a fundraiser for the Kingaroy Lions and last year attracted more than 600 riders. It's a non-competitive trail ride open to all classes of dirt bikes (no quads), and has been moved to a new location this year to keep it interesting for regulars. The Ride features Pee Wee, Novice and Open tracks and it's always a lot of fun. Free camping with hot showers and toilets are available from Friday night onwards, as well as on-site food catering from Friday night through to Sunday at 1:30pm. Kingaroy Lions Trail Ride - Benair
The second (and final) day of the weekend-long Kingaroy Lions Trail Ride will be held at Half Mile Creek Road, off Minmore Road south-west of Kingaroy (look for the signs) from 8:30am this morning through until late this afternoon. This annual 2-day event is a fundraiser for the Kingaroy Lions and last year attracted more than 600 riders. It's a non-competitive trail ride open to all classes of dirt bikes (no quads), and has been moved to a new location this year to keep it interesting for regulars. The Ride features Pee Wee, Novice and Open tracks and it's always a lot of fun. Free camping with hot showers and toilets are available from Friday night onwards, as well as on-site food catering from Friday night through to 1:30pm today. There's also a great raffle. The second 2017 State Of Origin match between the Queensland Maroons and the NSW Blues will be held at Sydney's ANZ Stadium at 8:15pm tonight. The Maroons are being coached by former Queensland rugby league legend Kevin Walters, backing up for a second year after his maiden series win in 2016. NSW, meanwhile, are being coached by former Canberra, New South Wales and Australia captain Laurie Daley for the fifth year, who'll be looking to follow up the Blues' 2014 win. The South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group will be hosting "Winter Warmers Beating The Blues" at the Kingaroy Town Hall forecourt in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 4:00pm to around 7:00pm this afternoon and evening. This free community event will be offering a BBQ, soup and bread, warm drinks and biscuits, gas heaters, lucky door prizes, face painting, a craft table, biscuit decorating and live music. Dress code is a scarf and beanie, and donations of blankets and non-perishable food will be accepted at the event (or they can be made beforehand at Council libraries). Raising Hell In Maidenwell
The first day of the three-day Raising Hell In Maidenwell Car Show 'N' Shine camp out weekend will be held at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (right next to the Maidenwell Hotel) all day today. This popular event - which is run by the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers to support local charities - is a campout weekend featuring live music; a big Show'n'Shine focussing on hot rods, street machines and pre-1975 customs; and vintage and veteran caravans. Today's daytime activities will largely focus on setting up camp (for guests spending the full weekend), meeting the neighbours and getting acquainted - the main public day is tomorrow - but tonight there'll be a Rock & Roll Concert screened at the Maidenwell Sportsground, and there'll also be some entertainment at the Maidenwell Hotel next door. The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
