Connections Craft Group - Kingaroy

Indoor Bowls & Cards Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club will be hosting indoor bowls and cards (500) competitions at its centre on the corner of Avoca and Kingaroy Streets, Kingaroy between 9:00am and 4:00pm today. Blackbutt Camera Club Meeting
The Blackbutt Camera Club will be holding a meeting at the Uniting Church Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt from 4:00pm to 8:00pm this evening. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month except December and January. The first Wednesday is devoted to practical photography (bring your own camera and equipment) and the third Wednesday to a review of those images and talks and tips on software (bring your laptop), followed by a committee meeting at 7:00pm. The Kingaroy Bowls Club in Youngman Street, Kingaroy will be holding their 80th Anniversary Carnival today to celebrate the club's 80th birthday. Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. St Joseph's Bingo - Murgon

The South Burnett Pantry will be open from noon to 2:30pm today at Tablelands Hall in Tablelands. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2017 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting three different exhibitions: “Eclectica” by Patricia Deller-Smith in the main gallery; “A New Direction” by Kaye Kerner in the front gallery; and “The Surface of Water does not Reveal its Depth” by Winka von Fahland in the rear gallery. The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. Kingaroy Sculpture Prize Exhibition Opening
The three category winners of the inaugural biannual $10,000 Kingaroy Sculpture Prize will be announced at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy by judge Dr Rhyl Hinwood AM at 11:30am this morning, followed by the official opening of the sculpture competition exhibition by South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell at 11:40am. Saturday Rugby League - Kingaroy
Two trial rugby league games will be played this weekend at T. J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy: Under 18 and A grade matches between the Kingaroy Red Ants and Bundaberg. The matches will get underway soon after 3:00pm and a bar and canteen will be operating on the grounds. Spectators and supporters are very welcome!

Mini Roos Roar Soccer Clinic - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Junior Football Club will be hosting the first day of a two-day Mini Roos Roar 2 Day Soccer Clinic at their grounds in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy from 3:30pm to 6:30pm this afternoon (and 9:30am to 12:30pm tomorrow). The clinic can cater to a maximum of 75 children and there are fewer than 30 places left, with registrations being taken up to 15 minutes before the clinic gets underway. The cost of the two-day clinic is $66 and children should wear runners or soccer boots, shin pads and a hat and bring along a water bottle and healthy snacks or food. More details? There will be over 100 great prizes up for grabs, so everyone is virtually guaranteed to go home with a prize. Maidenwell Markets
If you're heading up to the Bunya Mountains today, go via Maidenwell and you can browse the Maidenwell Markets at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (just next to the Rural Fire Brigade HQ in the heart of town) between 8:00am and 12:00 noon this morning. These markets offer a range of arts and crafts, local produce, plants, home baking, bric-a-brac, sauces, jams, chutneys, coffee, food and lots more (there's even a jumping castle for children). Animal Foster Carer Training Course - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy RSPCA at Warren Truss Drive, Kingaroy Airport will be holding a free, 2-hour animal foster carer training course from 10:00am to around noon today. The course is being presented by RSPCA State Foster Care Coordinator, Julie Herbert, and will teach participants how the foster program operates; the role of a foster carer; how to ensure a safe home environment; safe animal transportation; feeding your foster animal; introducing foster animals to your own pets; promoting good behaviours; toilet training; exercise, play, environmental exposure and socialisation; bathing and grooming; health care and when to seek veterinary help. Blackbutt RSL Annual General Meeting
The Blackbutt RSL at the corner of Douglas and Muir Streets in Blackbutt will be holding its Annual General Meeting at 10:00am this morning for league and social members. Social members can nominate themselves (or other social members) for the committee and for any position except President, Secretary, Treasurer and Delegate. Social members are also not allowed to vote on League matters. Right now, the club requires nominations for the position of Bar Manager, Kitchen Manager and Grounds Manager, and any volunteers who can assist in these vital positions will help ensure the club's success. 59th Annual Proston Show
The 59th annual Proston Show will be held at Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road just west of town from 6:00am this morning through until late tonight. The Proston Show is always a big event in the western South Burnett and today's activities will get underway with horse-riding events, stud cattle judging and competitions for junior judges and young handlers shortly after the gates open. This will be followed a Championship Dog Show kicking off at around 8:30am; and then with show jumping, poultry judging and prime trade cattle judging at 9:00am. Then at 9:30am there'll be wood-chopping and post-ripping, including the famous Proston Post-Ripping Challenge that's always fun to see. This will be followed at 11:00am with the presentation of the Prime Trade Show Awards, and then the Proston Stockman's Classic at noon. The official opening will be held at 1:30pm and this will be followed by the Grand Parade at 2:00pm along with more award presentations, including Stud Beef Grand Champion. Other great things to look out for at this year's Show include a trade display area that's almost packed to capacity, dodgem cars, Willie the Worm, a slide and a jumping castle, face-painting and Viv's Farm animals. The evening's entertainment will include a fantastic Ute Muster with lots of extra categories, a Young Farmers' Challenge, live entertainment from Vanessa Lee and Highway 65 and a giant fireworks display. In addition, the Show Society will be running a canteen, BBQ and bar from 10:00am onwards. Admission to today's Show is just $10 for adults, $5 for high school students and $3 for primary school students (under-5s are admitted free). 2017 Murgon Show
The gates will open at Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon at 6:00am this morning for the second (and main) day of the 94th Annual Murgon Show. This year's Show will feature a very big range of cattle and horse events and things will move into full gear from 8:00am onwards with judging for stud beef cattle, followed by poultry judging. There'll also be horse events for hacks and show jumping in the main arena, along with an all breeds Dog Show; a bumper Sideshow Alley; pavilion and trade exhibits; and all the fun of a great Aussie fair. This year's Murgon Show will be officially opened at around 1:30pm in front of the grandstand, and there'll also be a spectacular fireworks display mid-way through the evening at around 7:00pm. 77th Annual Goomeri Show
The 77th annual Goomeri Show will be held at the Goomeri Showgrounds on the Burnett Highway at Goomeri from early this morning until late tonight. This year's Show will feature stud and prime beef cattle competitions in the main ring, along with lots of equestrian events; pavillion entries across lots of categories; a bumper Championship Dog Show with more than 400 entries; an Iron Man challenge; a brand new hay baling competition; a Working Cowhorse in the evening that’s part of Sunday’s Stockman’s Challenge; a Giant Fireworks display at 8:00pm; and sideshow alley. The Show Society's bar will be operating all day and into the evening and there'll be plenty of food stalls in the grounds, too. Admission to this year's Show is $12 for adults, $5 for children aged 13-18 and free for under-12s if accompanied by an adult. The Show will conclude tomorrow with an all-day Stockman's Challenge.

Saturday Soccer - Wondai and Kingaroy
The South Burnett's 2017 soccer season will start today, and matches will be held at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy and the Wondai soccer grounds off the Bunya Highway north of the Wondai Sportsgrounds. In Kingaroy, home teams Gunners and Wests will battle each other, with 2nd Division hitting the park at 2:00pm, followed by Women's Division at 3:30pm and First Division at 5:00pm. And in Wondai, the Barambah Bears will play the Nanango Panthers, with 2nd Division kicking off at 12:30pm, Women's Division following on at 2:00pm and First Division rounding out the day at 3:15pm. The third (and final) day of the 77th annual Goomeri Show will be held at the Goomeri Showgrounds on the Burnett Highway at Goomeri from early this morning until late this afternoon. Ringsfield Film Society Movie Afternoon - Nanango
The Ringsfield Film Society will be screening a Sunday afternoon movie at their cinema - the old chapel in the grounds of Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango - at 2:30pm today. This month's film is the Australian classic "Newsfront", Phillip Noyce's 1978 drama about newsreel cameramen who will do almost anything to get footage. Set between the years 1948 and 1956, the film tracks the destinies of two brothers, their adventures and misadventures placed in the context of sweeping social and political changes of the times, including Robert Menzies' return as Prime Minister of Australia, the 1951 referendum to ban the communist party, post-war immigration, combatting the rabbit plague, and the 1955 Hunter Valley floods. The Kingaroy Community Kitchen will be holding its regular Thursday morning meeting at St Mary's Hall at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy from 9:30am to around 1:00pm today. Community Kitchen members learn how to cook a variety of budget conscious home-cooked meals, then sit down together for a communal lunch afterwards to enjoy the results for the cost of a gold coin donation. Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. Old Time Dancing Classes - Murgon
Old Time Dancing will be held at the South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon at 1:00pm to 3:00pm this afternoon. The class caters to all levels from beginners to advanced, all in a fun and social atmosphere lead by a qualified dance instructor. St Joseph's Parish Hall in Angel Avenue, Murgon will be hosting bingo games from 7:30pm this evening. There'll be $1000 in prizes on offer as well as a canteen and lucky bingo tickets. Proceeds will go to aid St Joseph's school and community works.

POSTPONED: Aussie Land and Livestock and Across Country Real Estate and Livestock will be holding their Store & Weaner Show Sale at the Coolabunia Saleyards off the D'Aguilar Highway at Coolabunia from 9:00am this morning. More than 800 steers, heifers, cows and calves plus some special lines - including 100 Droughtmasters - will be going under the hammer. Note: Because of expected heavy rainfall across the South Burnett on Thursday, this sale has been postponed.

South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
