The South Burnett branch of Narcotics Anonymous will be holding its regular weekly meeting at the Presbyterian Church Hall in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:30pm to 8:30pm tonight. Narcotics Anonymous is a non-profit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. NA members are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. There is only one requirement for membership, the desire to stop using. Note: Tonight's NA meeting will also be the last one in Kingaroy for the year because the convenor will be overseas until after Christmas.

Danny's Diner - Kingaroy
Danny's Diner - a free community dinner - will be held at the Uniting Church Hall at the corner of Alford and Youngman streets in Kingaroy from 5:30pm to 7:00pm tonight. The dinner is an initiative of the Kingaroy District Ministry Association for the benefit of anyone who's hungry or otherwise doing it tough. Qualified instructors will be demonstrating the use of all the equipment in the centre - great stuff like lathes, drills etc - and if you're a man interested in restoring or manufacturing wood or metal products and socialising with other men who have similar interests, then this could be the place for you! The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery will be opening their eighth monthly exhibition for 2015 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight in the newly refurbished Gallery building on the roundabout at Wondai. This month, the Gallery will be featuring three different exhibitions: Cherborg's Yidding Artists group will be exhibiting in the main gallery; digital artist Trev Wilkinson in the front gallery; and photograhers Jenny Ball and Geoff Grevell in the third gallery. Children from Murgon State School will be exhibiting in Kidz Korner as well. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Cranes Winery, live entertainment and great socialising. The QCWA Gympie/South-Burnett Division annual Craft Exhibition will be held at the Murgon CWA Rooms from 9:30am to 3:00pm today. At today's meeting, Harvy will tell you a bit about his life, how he started collecting old cars (he has several beauties from the 1920s), then got into farming and later wound up owning a bus company. A bar and canteen will be operating on the grounds, the games are certain to be the best soccer you'll see all season and spectators are very welcome. 2015 Rugby League Grand Finals - Murgon
If you're a rugby league fan, the place to go today is the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, which will be the host venue for the South Burnett's 2015 Rugby League Grand Finals. Matches will get underway at 10:00am with the U12s Grand Final between Wondai and Cherbourg. This will be followed by the U14s clash between Kingaroy and Cherbourg at 11:15am, then the Girls 14s/16s matches at 12:45pm. At 1:45pm, the U16s Grand Final between Kingaroy and Cherbourg will be played out on the field, followed at 3:15pm with the U18s game between Nanango and Murgon. After this, the biggest match of all - between the Wondai Wolves and Kingaroy Red Ants - will kick off at 5:00pm to decide this year's A-Grade Grand Final winner. Today is RUOK Day - a day to raise awareness about suicide prevention - and to mark it, two free community breakfasts will be held - one in Kingaroy, the other in Nanango. 2015 Heritage Nanango Country Muster
The 2015 Heritage Nanango Country Muster will be held at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from the 10th to the 13th of September this year - and today the Muster will get underway in a low-key way as attendees file into Nanango from all over south-east Queensland to set up camp and prepare for a long weekend of bush balladeering fun. The 2015 Muster will kick off with a BBQ and a Campers Walk Up Concert which will start at 10:00am and continue until around 1:00pm this afternoon. A bar will be operating at the Showgrounds from 10:00am to 12:00 midnight as well. You can get in to attend today's BBQ and concert for free, but tomorrow the fee will be $20; an all-day Saturday pass will be $30 (or $15 if you want to attend from 3:00pm onwards); or you can buy a 4-day pass to the entire event for $45 (young people aged 14 to 17 can get tickets for half price, and under-14s accompanied by an adult can get in for free). Paddle 4 Fun - Wooroolin
Here's something different! The Wooroolin Lions Club will be running "Paddle 4 Fun" day at the Wooroolin Sportsgrounds and the adjoining Wooroolin Wetlands from 10:00am to around 3:00pm as a fundraiser for their community projects. Competitors purchase a rubber duck for $10, then paddle their way around a wetland course, collecting stickers at the five designated checkpoints. Competitors who'd rather boat it than paddle can use any non-powered water vessel to get around the course (BYO water vessel), and can enter in teams or as singles. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult, but you can purchase as many ducks as you like. The main day of the 2015 Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Festival - Blackbutt's annual town festival - will be held in and around Blackbutt today. 2015 Heritage Nanango Country Muster
The 2015 Heritage Nanango Country Muster will be held at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from the 11th to the 14th of September this year, and today - the main day - the Muster will get underway at 9:00am with an Invited Artists Concert that will run right through until 11:00pm tonight. You can get in to attend today's concert for $30 (or $15 if you want to attend from 3:00pm onwards); or you can buy a 4-day pass to the entire event for $45 (young people aged 14 to 17 can get tickets for half price, and under-14s accompanied by an adult can get in for free). A bar and canteen will be running all day, and camping will also be available at the Showgrounds for between $7 and $9 per night - but a booking for any camp site is essential because the Muster usually packs the Showgrounds to capacity. Welcome To Wondai
Here's something different! A special "Welcome To Wondai" community celebration will be held at Coronation Park in the heart of Wondai's CBD from 2:00pm until around 7:30pm tonight. The event is designed to bring the community and friends of Wondai together for an afternoon of relaxed and informal family fun, and it's all completely free. Things will kick off at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery at 2:00pm when the Wondai CWA & Community Choir and the Wondai State School Choir join forces to present a "Songs Of Remembrance" concert, followed by a gold coin donation afternoon tea. Then from 3:30pm to around 5:30pm, everyone will be encouraged to meet and mingle in Coronation Park where there'll be great live entertainment provided by the popular "Stepping Stones" and lots of community stalls providing information on local groups, plus a jumping castle, fairy floss and pony rides for children. The Wondai Kindy BBQ will also be operating to supply food and soft drinks, and the QCWA will have a stand selling tea, coffee and cakes. At 4:00pm, children (and adults) can learn how to make paper planes in readiness for a 5:00pm paper plane flying competition that will offer prizes for children and also a prize in the adult section. The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding two public consultation meetings about the Kingaroy-Murgon Rail Trail in Wondai and Wooroolin today. The first meeting will be held at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery at 2:30pm and the principal topic for discussion will be upgrading the former Wondai railway station building and adjoining tracks as a tourist feature and community facility; and the second meeting will be held at Wooroolin's Grand Hotel at 5:30pm this evening to update Wooroolin businesses about the potential economic stimulus the Rail Trail is expected to bring to the town after it opens, and how they can capitalise on this. The Nanango Race Club will be holding their annual Heritage Bank Nanango Springtime Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 10:00am to around 5:00pm today - always one of their most colourful meetings of the year. Public swimming pools at Blackbutt, Yarraman and Wondai will re-open for the 2015-2016 swimming season today. Goomeri's swimming pool is also expected to re-open in the near future, but a firm date has yet to be announced by Gympie Regional Council. The new Murgon Aquatic Centre and the Proston Swimming Pool will re-open on Monday, October 12; and the refurbished Kingaroy Swimming Pool on Saturday, October 24.

The annual two-day Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club Rally will be held at Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport between 9:00am and 4:00pm today (as well as 9:00am to 12:00 noon tomorrow). The rally attracts vintage machinery enthusiasts from all over South East Queensland and there'll be a huge range of antique machinery on display including cars, tractors, trucks, crawlers and stationary engines. Tanduringie State School at 32 Tanduringie School Road in Maidenwell will be holding its Centenary Celebrations today. The day will kick off at 8:30am with registrations for early-birds. The second (and final) day of the Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club Rally will be held at Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport between 9:00am and 12:00 noon today. The rally attracts vintage machinery enthusiasts from all over South East Queensland and there'll be a huge range of antique machinery on display including cars, tractors, trucks, crawlers and stationary engines. Other highlights include a Grand Parade, slow tractor races, sled pulling, ploughing, ring events and much, much more! If you're hungry, there'll also be a barbecue, food and drink stalls operating all day too. Agatha Christie's Verdict - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the third perfomance of Agatha Christie's 1958 murder mystery "Verdict" at the Nanango Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango at 7:00pm tonight (play begins at 7:30pm). The NTC's latest production tells the story of Karl Hendryk, a brilliant professor who has fled persecution in his country with his wife and her cousin. He is safely ensconced in a British university where he is respected by students and faculty alike. But his wife Anya, an invalid suffering from a progressively debilitating disease, bitterly regrets having been forced to leave her home and her friends and is unhappy with all aspects of her life in England. Her cousin, Lisa Koletzky, has moved with them to care for Anya and to manage the professor's home. Karl and Lisa have suppressed feelings for each other, and the situation is further disturbed when a rich young student, Helen Rollander, begins taking private lessons with the professor. 2015 Wondai Spring Garden Expo
The Wondai Garden Expo Committee will be holding the first day of their weekend-long 2015 Wondai Spring Garden Expo at the Wondai Sports Grounds off the Bunya Highway in Wondai from 8:00am to 4:30pm today (the Expo will also be running at the Sports Grounds from 8:00am to 1:00pm tomorrow). RACQ Careflight Enduro Challenge - Manar Park
Manar Park at Boondooma will be holding its 2015 RACQ Careflight Enduro Challenge today (and also tomorrow morning) as a fundraiser for RACQ Careflight, who airlift injured patrons from the Park to hospitals all year round at a cost of between $10,000 and $12,000 per flight. Competitors in the Challenge will need to complete four different Enduro loops covering a distance of 135m which - this year - will be run in reverse order. Tonight there'll also be a gold coin donation big screen slide show of photos taken during the day along with a camp fire sausage sizzle (BYO drinks, chair or blanket and photos), with all proceeds donated to Careflight; and tomorrow morning there'll be a more relaxed Novice Loop Challenge for children, beginners and families. Agatha Christie's Verdict (Final) - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the fourth (and final) perfomance of Agatha Christie's 1958 murder mystery "Verdict" at the Nanango Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango at 7:00pm tonight (play begins at 7:30pm). The NTC's latest production tells the story of Karl Hendryk, a brilliant professor who has fled persecution in his country with his wife and her cousin. He is safely ensconced in a British university where he is respected by students and faculty alike. But his wife Anya, an invalid suffering from a progressively debilitating disease, bitterly regrets having been forced to leave her home and her friends and is unhappy with all aspects of her life in England. Her cousin, Lisa Koletzky, has moved with them to care for Anya and to manage the professor's home. Karl and Lisa have suppressed feelings for each other, and the situation is further disturbed when a rich young student, Helen Rollander, begins taking private lessons with the professor.
