Ernie Stubbs Charity Golf Day - Nanango
Nanango Golf Club on the D'Aguilar Highway north of town will be holding its annual Ernie Stubbs Memorial Charity Golf Day from 10:30am this morning (names in by 9:45am, please). Play will take the form of a 3 Person Ambrose and the $22 per player green fee includes lunch. In addition to a fun day of social golf there'll be novelty holes, a monster raffle and plenty of prizes, and non-golfers are very welcome as well. Today's competition is sponsored by the Fitzroy Hotel and Cheers Liquor House and all proceeds will be donated to the Breast and Prostate Cancer Council. More details? Bookings? 29th Annual Golden Oldies - Cherbourg
Cherbourg's annual Golden Oldies Reunion for former residents of Cherbourg will be celebrating its 29th birthday at the Cherbourg Community Hall today with a Golden Oldies afternoon from 11:00am to around 5:00pm. This year's get-together has a "Spring Fever" theme and guests are encouraged to dress in something floral. Entertainment will be provided by Muddy Flats, the Wakka Wakka Dancers and the Bado Torres Strait Islander Dancers and there'll be a Talent Quest for walk-up acts as well. Romance Of Runnibede - Moffatdale
The recently discovered 1928 Australian silent movie Romance Of Runnibede - which used Murgon and Cherbourg residents as extras to support Hollywood starlet Eva Novak in a film based on a Steele Rudd novel - will be screened at Barambah Station near Moffatdale at 5:30pm this evening by the Creative Country Association. This black and white film is one of only two Australian movies that survive from the era and it provides a fascinating insight into attitudes that prevailed roughly 90 years ago. The film has a run-time length of 90 minutes and is of exceptional quality. Only 80 tickets (at $65 per head) are available to this semi-formal screening, which will also see guests treated to a complimentary glass of Clovely Estate sparkling wine, canapes and a tour of historic Barambah Estate's gardens on arrival. Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Kingaroy Bowls Club Bingo
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Proston Rally
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding their quarterly CAMS Khanacross Multiclub Rally at their racing track this weekend (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston on the Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will commence around 11:00am this morning and there'll also be burnouts from around 6:00pm, with racing wrapping up around 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a hearty breakfast supplied by the Proston Lions club early on Sunday morning. Hot showers, toilets and free camping are available on site too. Admission to the Rally is 100% free for spectators, $50 for adult participants and $25 for juniors. More details? Phone 0458-689-446.
Byte Nite - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be hosting a Byte Nite from 7:00pm to around 11:00pm tonight for Murgon and Cherbourg youngsters. Children can play a range of fun and entertaining games and pursue other amusements for free during the course of the night, as well as get a free meal and a ride home afterwards if they need one, all under the supervision of caring local volunteers. Byte Nite is an initiative of the PCYC and Murgon Business and Development Association to tackle youth crime in the district by giving youngsters something to do on a Saturday night, and anyone who'd like to volunteer to help this community-driven initiative in any way should contact Sgt Rene Bond at the PCYC on (07) 4168-1889 for more information.
Nanango Stamp Club
The Nanango Stamp Club will be holding its second Saturday of the month meeting at Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango from 10:00am onwards this morning, followed by lunch for those who'd like to stay on for a bite afterwards. The club is the South Burnett's sole affiliated member of the Queensland Philatelic Council and promotes the hobby of stamp collecting in our region. It meets on the second Saturday morning of each month, and anyone interested in stamp collecting is very welcome to come along for a fun morning out with fellow collectors. Note: Today's meeting is also the club's Christmas break-up. Meetings will resume in January 2020.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.

The newly-formed Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event (search for "Ros Gregor Trail" to find the group - but if you can't find it, just register and bring along the barcode).
Mr Q At The Palace - Nanango
South Burnett supergroup Mr Q will be performing live at the Palace Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango from 7:30pm until late tonight. Tony, Gavin and the band will be laying down their energetic mix of good time rock & roll and party music, there's no admission charge and everyone is welcome! More details? Billy Guy - Kingaroy

Tyson Clancy-Jones & DJ Ty - Kingaroy
South Burnett entertainer Tyson Clancy-Jones will be performing in the front bar of the Kingaroy Hotel-Motel at the corner of Youngman and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until 10:00pm tonight, followed by DJ Ty who'll be spinning the platters until late. Bugger The Drought - Burrandowan
A Bugger The Drought information session for rural producers will be held at Burrandowan Hall from 6:30pm this evening. There'll be a free BBQ dinner, and a number of agencies will be on hand to provide information about services and support programs currently on offer. Saturday Cricket
Round 5 of the South Burnett's 2019-20 cricket competition will get underway at four venues across the region at 12:30pm today. In Kumbia, the Kumbia Rattlers will play Southern Districts Devils at the Kumbia cricket fields; in Kingaroy, Kalindale Warriors will play Blackbutt at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street; while Services will play Wondai at Taabinga State School in Kingaroy Street; and in Murgon, Murgon's Diggers will play the Nanango Scorpions at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street. Canteens will be operating at some venues and spectators are very welcome. Meanwhile, in A Grade, Murgon will travel to Kenilworth Showgrounds to play Kenilworth in a match that will also start at 12:30pm.
Orana Hilltop Markets - Kingaroy
The Orana Lutheran Complex at 24 MacDiarmid Street in Kingaroy will be holding their Orana Hilltop Markets from 7:30am to around 12:00 noon this morning in the complex's grounds. The markets will feature a wide range of stalls selling anything from local produce, home-made baked goods and beverages through to home decor items, clothing, giftware, gardening supplies and bric-a-brac. Social Bowls Family Fun Day - Proston
The Proston Bowls Club in Murphy Way, Proston (just behind Proston Rural) will be holding a Family Fun Day for bowlers and non-bowlers this afternoon. Names need to be in by 1:00pm for a 1:30pm start, and everyone is welcome - just wear soft-soled shoes or come barefoot.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. Orana Hilltop Markets - Kingaroy
