Legends Of League - Cherbourg
The second (and final) day of a two-day Legends Of League Carnival will be held at Jack O'Chin Oval at the end of Broadway Street, Cherbourg from 8:30am this morning. Today's action will continue a two-day round robin competition that began yesterday, featuring six men’s teams and three women’s teams playing two 20-minute halves. This will run until the grand final of the men's teams in played at around 5:00pm tonight. After this, the Carnival will conclude at 6:30pm with a full-blown match between two teams (the Sellwood Construction Australian Legends and CRAICCHS Cherbourg Hornets) with league legends like Cliff Lyons, John Hopoate, Terry Matterson, Bryan Niebling and many more playing. Admission to today's Carnival is $12 (adults), $5 (children aged 8-14) or $25 for a family (two adults and three children). Children aged 7 and under are free. Everyone is welcome! South Burnett Soccer Sevens - Kingaroy
The 37th annual South Burnett Soccer Sevens will be held at the Kingaroy Soccer Grounds in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy all this weekend. This giant pre-season carnival - run by the South Burnett Senior Soccer Association - attracts teams from all over south-east Queensland and is one of the region's major annual sporting events. This year organisers expect there'll be upwards of 40 mens and womens teams competing for prize monies and locals are also very welcome to form a team and join in! Today's games will get underway at around 10:00am and will run to about 5:00pm. Admission to the Soccer Sevens is 100% free for spectators and there'll be a licensed bar, BBQ and canteen operating at the grounds too. The carnival will conclude with finals matches tomorrow.
Yellowbelly Fishing Competition - Lake Boondooma
The 30th annual Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition will be held at Boondooma Dam near Proston all this weekend, commencing at 5:00am today and concluding around lunchtime tomorrow. The event - organised by the Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking Association - will have adult and junior sections and numerous cash prizes for each weigh-in period. A licensed bar, BBQ and food and drink stalls will be operating for the duration and accommodation for competitors is available at the adjoining Lake Boondooma Tourist Park. Competition entry fees are $20 for adults and $5 for children and all competitors will need to have a Stocked Impoundment Permit to take part. Last year close to 1000 keen anglers wet their lines for a share of the $50,000 in prizes on offer and large numbers of campers packed the dam's camping grounds. Cooyar Cocktail Party & Dinner-Dance
The Cooyar Show Society will be hosting a Cooyar Show Cocktail Party at Cooyar Hall on the New England Highway tonight as a curtain-raiser for this year's 71st annual Cooyar Show and Campdraft on February 21-22. Doors will open at 6:30pm and guests can get to enjoy a licensed bar, live entertainment by Cloud 9, and a special cocktail bar offering everything from exotic cocktails to non-alcoholic mocktails along with standard bar, plus a two course meal and a complimentary drink on arrival. There'll also be a free shuttle bus running around the Cooyar area. Tickets for this cocktail dress, 18-plus event are $50 for adults and they'll be available at the door tonight unless sold out (bookings are highly advisable). Everyone is welcome! More details? Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.

The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Wondai Wolves Sign On Day
The Wondai Wolves rugby league football club will be holding a Sign On Day for the up-coming 2020 season at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of Wondai's CBD from 10:00am to noon this morning. There'll be a sausage sizzle running, and all current players and potential new players of all ages are very welcome.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Byte Nite - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC will be hosting a Byte Nite from 6:00pm to around 9:00pm for Murgon and Cherbourg youngsters at Murgon's Jubilee Swimming Pool in Gore Street. Children can play a range of fun and entertaining games and pursue other amusements for free during the course of the night, and get a dinner as well as get a ride home afterwards if they need one, all under the supervision of local volunteers. Byte Nite is an initiative of the PCYC and Murgon Business and Development Association to tackle youth crime in the district by giving youngsters something to do on a Saturday night, and anyone who'd like to volunteer to help this community-driven initiative in any way should contact Sgt Rene Bond at the PCYC on (07) 4168-1889 for more information.
Hudsons Circus - Nanango
Hudsons Circus will be performing two two-hour shows at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango at 4:00pm this afternoon and 7:00pm tonight. Ringside tickets range from $37-$50 for children and $47-$60 for adults, and more details can be found on the Hudsons Circus website
Dance - Booie Hall
A dance will be held at Booie Hall at 1226 Booie Road, Booie from 8:00pm until late tonight. Old Time dance music will be supplied by a local group and there'll be a great supper, novelties and a lucky door prize, too. Admission is $10 for adults, or $5 for high school students and non-dancers. Saturday Party Jam - Kingaroy

Saturday Cricket
Round 15 of the South Burnett's 2019-20 cricket competition will get underway at four venues across the region at 12:30pm today. In Kingaroy, Kallindale Warriors will play Cherbourg at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street; and Kingaroy Services will play Blackbutt at Taabinga State School in Kingaroy Street; in Murgon, the Murgon Diggers will play the Southern District Devils at the Murgon Sportsgrounds; and in Nanango, Nanango's Scorpions will play Wondai at the Burnett Street sports fields. Canteens will be operating at some venues and spectators are very welcome. Meanwhile, in A Grade, Murgon Crusaders will be playing away in Gympie against Gympie Valleys.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's monthly Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today (ie opposite Bendigo Bank). The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held on the second Saturday of every month. Lance & Harry - Kingaroy

The South Burnett branch of Narcotics Anonymous will be holding its weekly meeting at Wondai from 6:00pm to around 7:00pm this evening.
