World Day Of Prayer
Today is the annual World Day of Prayer - an international, inter-denominational, inter-racial prayer movement held on the first Friday in March every year. This year's service will be observed in Kingaroy at St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Alford Street, Kingaroy (opposite the police station) at 9:30am, followed by morning tea. Everyone is welcome to attend. In Nanango, the service will be held at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Cairns Street at 10:00am, followed by morning tea; and in Wondai, at St Mary's Anglican Church at the corner of Bramston and Baynes streets at 10:00am. Other services will be held at St John's Anglican Church at 8 Coulson Street in Blackbutt at 1:00pm; at Kumbia's Uniting Church at 35 Bell Street at 1:00pm; and at Yarraman's St Philips Anglican Church at 22 Millar Street at 10:00am. Other services are planned for Murgon at St Joseph's Catholic Church at 38 Angel Avenue at 9:30am; and in Goomeri at the Apostolic Church at 19 Olive Street, also at 9:30am.
Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2020 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be showcasing textile-based artworks by Elizabeth Schmidt in the front gallery; new works by local artist Tony Love in the main gallery; and artworks from the collection of gallery founder and former curator Alison Iszlaub in the rear gallery, while children from St John's Lutheran School will exhibit their own works in Kidz Korner. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from a South Burnett winery, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. World's Greatest Shave - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Police constable Connor Miller will be losing her locks this year for the World's Greatest Shave to help raise funds for leukaemia research, and she'll be holding a $2.50 sausage sizzle outside Kingaroy Police Station from 6:30am to 9:00am this morning (Connor's locks come off at 8:00am). Friday Afternoon Scroungers - Nanango
The Nanango Bowls Club in Henry Street will be holding their regular Friday Afternoon Scroungers matches at 4:00pm today. A $5 match fee applies and new players are very welcome. More details from the club: (07) 4163-3363
Beef & Burger Night - Kingaroy
Huskys Burgers outside SupaIGA in Avoca Street, Kingaroy will be holding a Beer and Burger Night until 8:30pm this evening. Guests planning a night on the town can buy their beer at takeaway prices from the bottle shop located diagonally opposite, then bring them over to Husky's for a sit-down burger dinner. Friday Social Golf - Proston
The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road, Proston will be holding a Friday afternoon social golf game today. Names need to be in by 2:00pm for a 2:30pm tee-off, and everyone is welcome. More details from the club on (07) 4168-9367.
Nanango Blue Light Skate Night
The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding their regular U18s Blue Light roller skating night at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 6:00pm to 8:00pm this evening. There'll be lots of fun plus games and prizes, and a canteen will be operating too. Admission is $5, which includes skate hire, and the event is fully supervised. Ringsfield Writers - Nanango
The Ringsfield Writers group will be holding their monthly meeting at historic Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango from 9:15am to 10:45am today, followed by morning tea. Participants should bring along a pen, paper and a willingness to share ideas, and new writers are always welcome.
Blue Light Disco - Kingaroy
A Blue Light Disco will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm this evening. Entry to the disco is restricted to young people aged from prep to 14 years (high school students need to produce their student ID). Admission is $5 and - as usual - attendees are asked to remember that Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection. Friday Night Karaoke
The Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy will be running Friday Night Karaoke led by the Fruit Jam Duo from 8:30pm until around 12:30pm tonight. While talent is always appreciated, it's less important than being willing to get on stage and give things a red hot go. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission! More details? Kingaroy RSL Bingo

Friday Croquet - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Croquet Club will be playing croquet games at the Kingaroy Cricket Club in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (just next to Beangrowers) from 9:00am to around noon this morning. Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). Kingaroy Cuppa & Chat Group

Proston Show
The first day of the two-day 62nd Annual Proston Show will be held at Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road just west of town today, kicking off with a Prime Cattle Young Judges competition at 3:30pm and followed by a Young Farmers Challenge at 5:00pm. Admission is free - the Show's main public day is Saturday - and everyone is welcome. Afterwards, you can party on at the nearby Golden Spurs Hotel (see below)
Sonia Mcmahon Band - Proston
The Sonia Mcmahon Band will performing at the Golden Spurs Hotel at the corner of Blake and Rodney Streets in Proston from 7:30pm until late tonight - perfect as a warm-up for tomorrow's Proston Show. Seafood Buffet With Tucker & Chop - Kingaroy
The Carrollee Hotel in King Street, Kingaroy will be running its first Friday of the month all-you-can-eat Seafood Buffet from 6:00pm tonight, along with live entertainment from popular local duo Tucker & Chop. Luke Green - Nanango

Wesleyan Food Hampers - Nanango
Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price to people facing financial difficulties.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
