RBS Dance Academy Concert - Murgon
Murgon's RBS Dance Academy will be holding their End Of Year Concert at Murgon Town Hall at the corner of Lamb and George Streets in Murgon from 6:00pm to 10:00pm this evening. The concert will feature performances from students in all grades and it's usually a breath-taking riot of colour and action and a really great show. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12.50 for children aged 4-11, and they can be booked online. Unless sold out, some will also be available at the door tonight. Everyone is welcome!
Ryza - Kingaroy
Popular local band Ryza will be performing at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until around 11:30pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Family Movie Night - Kingaroy
The Salvation Army will be holding a Family Movie Night screening of "The Star", an animated movie about the first Christmas, at 44 Alford Street in Kingaroy from 4:30pm this afternoon. There's no admission charge and moviegoers are welcome to BYO snacks. Afterwards, there'll be a gold coin donation sausage sizzle on offer. Everyone is welcome! More details? Creedence Tribute Show - Kingaroy
The Fortunate Sons will be presenting their Creedence Tribute Show at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until late tonight. Byte Nite - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC will be hosting a Byte Nite from 7:00pm to around 11:00pm tonight for Murgon and Cherbourg youngsters at Murgon's Jubilee Swimming Pool in Gore Street. Children can play a range of fun and entertaining games and pursue other amusements for free during the course of the night, as well as get a free meal and a ride home afterwards if they need one, all under the supervision of caring local volunteers. Byte Nite is an initiative of the PCYC and Murgon Business and Development Association to tackle youth crime in the district by giving youngsters something to do on a Saturday night, and anyone who'd like to volunteer to help this community-driven initiative in any way should contact Sgt Rene Bond at the PCYC on (07) 4168-1889 for more information.
Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
Maidenwell's historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding its monthly Pig On A Spit evening from 6:00pm until late tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). There'll be live entertainment and lots of cold beer, along with more pork than you can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy for $17 per plate! The hotel also has roast beef and spit roasted chicken on the menu for those who prefer to go non-pork, plus a vegetarian option (ie vegies only), along with five Little Butcher meat tray raffles to raise funds for Tanduringie State School. Amber Goldsmith At The Palace - Nanango
Popular South Burnett country artist Amber Goldsmith will be performing at the Palace Hotel and Kitchen in Drayton Street, Nanango from 7:30pm until late tonight, performing an upbeat mix of classic covers and originals. Admission is free. More details from Beau at the hotel on (07) 4163-1287.
Christmas Celebration - Kingaroy and Nanango
The South Burnett Chorale will be ringing in the region's Christmas season with the final pair of their four annual Christmas Charity Concerts this afternoon. The concerts will feature a wide selection of Yuletide favourites and will be held at Kingaroy's Church Of Christ at 254 Haly Street at 2:00pm; and again at Nanango's Catholic Church at 37 Gipps Street, Nanango at 6:00pm. Admission is $10 (which includes an afternoon tea or light supper) and all proceeds of this year's concert series will go to aid drought-affected members of the local community. Everyone is welcome!
Kingaroy Bowls Club Bingo
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their 150th weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Nanango Parkrun
The newly-formed Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Beer and Burger Night - Kingaroy
Huskys Burgers outside SupaIGA in Avoca Street, Kingaroy will be holding a Beer and Burger Night until 8:30pm this evening. Guests planning a night on the town can buy their beer at takeaway prices from the bottle shop located diagonally opposite, then bring them over to Husky's for a sit-down burger dinner. It's a much cheaper option than going to a local pub for dinner (roughly 50% less) and the burgers are better, too. More details? Phone Husky's on (07) 4189-5605.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. Movie Night - Kilkivan
The Kilkivan Amateur Swimming Club will be hosting a free Family Movie Night at the Kilkivan Swimming Pool opposite Kilkivan State School at 7:00pm this evening, screening the G-rated animated classic The Missing Link. There'll be free entry to the pool and roast gravy rolls, hot chips, soft drinks and chocolates will be available from the pool's canteen. Everyone is welcome!
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Saturday Cricket
Round 8 of the South Burnett's 2019-20 cricket competition will get underway at four venues across the region at 12:30pm today. In Kingaroy, Kallindale Warriors will play the Kumbia Rattlers at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy; and Kingaroy Services will play the Southern District Devils at Taabinga State School in Kingaroy Street; in Murgon, Murgon Diggers will play Wondai at the Murgon Sports Grounds in Macalister Street; and in Blackbutt, Blackbutt will play Cherbourg at the Blackbutt cricket grounds. Canteens will be operating at some venues and spectators are very welcome. Meanwhile, in A Grade, Murgon Crusaders will be playing away in Gympie against Harlequins.
Murder At Crimson House - Kingaroy
The second performance of the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society's theatre restaurant production "Murder At Crimson House" will be held at the Trades Hall inside Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 6:30pm tonight. Tickets for a two-course dinner and the show are $40 per person and need to be booked online. Four more performances will be held at the same time and venue the next two Friday and Saturday nights.
Pig On A Spit Night - Wooroolin
Wooroolin's Grand Hotel on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin will be holding a Pig On A Spit Night from 6:00pm until late this evening. For $25 per adult (or $10 for children), guests can get to enjoy a great dinner along with live entertainment. Bookings are essential, though, and you can make one by phoning Robyn or Shane on (07) 4164-2261.
Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the second performance of their latest production "Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon" at their playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets, Nanango at 3:00pm this afternoon (doors open at 2:30pm). Tickets are $20 for adults or $15 for concessions and include afternoon tea. They're available from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre and if not sold out earlier, some will also be available at the door. Two more performances will be held at 7:00pm at the same time venue next Friday and Saturday night.
Blackbutt Helping Hands
Blackbutt's Helping Hands group - who provide emergency food relief and other assistance to those doing it tough - will be open at St John's Anglican Church in Gladys Street, Blackbutt from 9:00am to 11:00am this morning. More details? Phone Davina on 0409-271-308
