Lifeflight Chainsaw Races - Maidenwell
The Maidenwell Community Group will be holding the first day of a weekend-long post ripping competition at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds today as a fundraiser for the LifeFlight helicopter rescue service. Today's events will start at 10:00am and will focus on heats for the Open Post Rip. There'll be food and drink available on site, thanks to the Tanduringie State School P&C, along with a jumping castle and face painting to keep young children amused. Tomorrow, things will get underway with a BBQ breakfast between 6:00am and 9:00am, followed by a 10 event program that will feature the finals of the Open Post Rip along with a Major Open, a Jack and Jill, a Consolation and a Local post rip, too. There'll also be free overnight camping available in the Sportsgrounds for competitors and/or spectators who want to stay over, and both the nearby Maidenwell Hotel and Maidenwell Trading Post will be operating as well. Cooyar Hotel Rodeo
The annual Cooyar Hotel Rodeo will be held in the grounds of the Cooyar Hotel on the New England Highway at Cooyar from 3:00pm this afternoon (when gates open) through until late tonight. As usual, the rodeo will feature lots of bone-jarring, pulse pounding action followed by live entertainment from Eight Second Ride, and there'll be food and drink available in the grounds as well. Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for pensioners and students aged 12-17, $5 for U12s or $50 for a family pass. There'll also be overnight camping available as well. More details? Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Gliding State Championships - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Soaring Club will be hosting the Queensland State Championships at Kingaroy airport on Warren Truss Drive in Kingaroy from 1:00pm today, weather permitting. The Championships will run daily until October 6, and spectators are welcome to come check out the gliders on the tarmac.
SEQ Marathon Challenge - Yarraman
CANCELLED: Endurance Horse Sports Australia will be holding the first day of their 3-day SEQ Marathon Challenge at the Yarraman Showgrounds on the New England Highway west of the CBD today. This event features 20km, 40km and 60km rides and fees apply for each ride. Registrations need to be made through the EHSA website.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Men's Saturday Bowls - Yarraman

DJ Flo - Kingaroy

South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip
Noosaville's Outbike Australia will be running a South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip for cyclists today. The day trip will pick up participants at Noosa, Noosaville and Gympie and will offer three options: an easy ride from Kingaroy to Murgon (45km sealed); a hard ride from Murgon to Kilkivan (45km unsealed); and an extreme 90km ride from Kingaroy to Kilkivan. Bus fares are $120 return from Noosa, and bikes can be hired for $20 if you don't have your own. South Burnett locals are also welcome to take part, and there's $40 rider and bike transfers from Kilkivan to Kingaroy available if you need help getting back home. More details? Karaoke Night - Nanango

Kumbia Country Markets
The third Kumbia Country Markets for 2018 (run by the Kumbia Hall Committee) will be held in Bell Street and the precincts of the Kumbia Hall from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. The markets feature homemade gifts, fashions, fresh fruit and vegies, plants and crafts and a sausage sizzle will be operating too! Fortunato - Kingaroy
