Set between the years 1948 and 1956, the film tracks the destinies of two brothers, their adventures and misadventures placed in the context of sweeping social and political changes of the times, including Robert Menzies' return as Prime Minister of Australia, the 1951 referendum to ban the communist party, post-war immigration, combatting the rabbit plague, and the 1955 Hunter Valley floods. Admission to today's screening is $8 for adults and $2 for children which covers the cost of the venue and coffee, tea and a scone (or an ice cream for kids) at interval. Bookings are necessary to help plan the catering, though: phone Ringsfield House on (07) 4163-3345 or 0418-189-820 or send them an email.
