Proston Community Christmas Carols
- Proston's annual Christmas Carnival may have been cancelled this year due to COVID-19, but the town's Christmas spirit will live on at the Community Christmas Carols, which will be held in the beer garden of the Golden Spuirs Hotel in Blake Street, Proston from 6:00pm to around 8:00pm tonight. Special guests Sonia Mcmahon and Christian Anderson (the Miss N Hymm Duo) will lead the singing, and everyone is welcome to BYO chairs or blankets and join in. More details? Phone Andy or Di at the Spurs on (07) 4168-9069.
Murgon Men's Shed
- The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Christmas Eve Public Half Holiday
- The new Christmas Eve public half-holiday - begun last year to ensure as many workers as possible can get home for Christmas Eve - will start at 6:00pm tonight. People can work after 6:00pm if they wish, but if they do they will need to be paid a public holiday loading for any hours worked. This means most retail stores will close early tonight. So if you still have any last-minute Christmas shopping to do, you'll probably want to do it early.
Christmas Eve With Natalie Fenton - Maidenwell
- Popular South Burnett entertainer Natalie Fenton will be performing at the Maidenwell Hotel from 8:00pm to around 11:30pm tonight to help welcome in Christmas. There's no admission fee, and there's also free camping available next to the hotel if you want to stay overnight. More details? Phone the pub on (07) 4164-6133.
Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
- Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Kingaroy every Thursday from 7:30pm at the "Biscuit Tin", behind St Mary's Church Hall, 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy. For more information, phone (07) 4162-5747.
Wesleyan Food Hampers - Nanango
- Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 8:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price ($40 for a trolley-full of grocery items, fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy products, or $30 without meat, to people facing financial difficulties.
