2017 Reconciliation Fun Run

The 4th annual Reconciliation Fun Run will be run between Murgon and Cherbourg this morning, kicking off at 7:00am at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street and proceeding along the highway and Cherbourg Road (which will be closed to traffic for the event) to the Ration Shed Museum at Barambah Avenue in Cherbourg at 8:00am, where it will be followed by a day of games, foods, dance, music, stalls, workshops and displays. The Reconciliation Fun Run is open to everyone, from school children to adults, older people, families, people with disabilities, sporting clubs or corporate/workplace teams. The 7 km course can be run, walked or travelled in a pram or wheelchair. The aim of the day is for participants and spectators to have fun and last year's event drew raves from everyone who attended. Registrations will be taken at the Murgon Showgrounds this morning, or you can phone (07) 4169-5753 or 0427-340-710 for more details, or send an email.
Blackbutt Country Markets
The Blackbutt Lions Country Markets - run on the third Sunday of every month - will be held next to the Blackbutt Community Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt from 7:00am until around mid-day today. The markets offer a wide range of locally produced arts, crafts and and freshly harvested foodstuffs and everyone is welcome along! More details? Phone Ivan on (07) 4170-0068.
Million Paws Walk - Kingaroy
The South Burnett's RSPCA Million Paws Walk - one of the major annual fundraisers for the Kingaroy RSPCA - will be held at Memorial Park in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 8:00am this morning (when Walk registrations will commence - the walk gets underway at 9:00am) until around 1:00pm this afternoon. Owners can bring their well-behaved dogs along for a 4km circuit walk and then follow things up with the family by enjoying a community sausage sizzle, an egg-and-spoon race, costume awards, or taking part in the many other fun things that will be on offer. Entry to the walk costs $25 for adults and pensioners, $15 for children or $55 for a family of four and all proceeds of this morning's efforts will go to the Kingaroy RSPCA to help them look after the South Burnett's unwanted and/or abused pets. Everyone is welcome to this great social morning - last year more than 60 walkers took part - and you can obtain more details and/or register by phoning the RSPCA on (07) 4162-5501 or by visiting the Million Paws Walk website. PS: If you pre-register for this event you can save money; and if you haven't got a well-behaved dog (or any dog at all) but still want to take part and give the RSPCA a call beforehand, they'll set you up with a shelter dog for the walk. It's a great way to give them exercise and who knows? You may meet a new lifelong friend!
